With everything going on in the world, you hear a lot about bad cops, and things that happen when police officers aren’t active in the community. Toms River PD has always gone out of their way to involve the community in their policing with events like Coffee with a Cop and their Neighborhood Watch meetings that promote neighborhood safety through technology and outreach.

I had the privledge of attending the event today with my family and grabbing some pictures for OCSN. It was a generally upbeat and fun atmosphere with masks and group distancing being observed, even while waiting for the dunk tank. One special moment I’d like to point out is that my son, who has a sensory processing dissorder came into the event complaining of the noise and it being all too loud. He wanted to see the police officers (as he wants to be one when he grows up) and the firemen so he endured it. At one point he got a chance to pet the Police Department’s therapy dog, and after just a couple minutes of that he was doing much better.

Thank you Toms River Police Department for keeping us safe and everything that you do for the community.
