Lacey: Early Friday morning we reported an MVA on CR 539 near MP 19.5. It involved a Lexus and a dump truck with the Lexus bursting into flames upon impact. A 37 y/o Staten Island, NY woman was dead at the scene as police said it wouldn’t be possible to survive the initial impact.
The name of the deceased 37 y/o Staten Island woman was not available as of Press time. According to initial reports, the Lexus was traveling at a high rate of speed and went northbound in the southbound lanes. It appears the Lexus was passing multiple vehicles and struck the dump truck head-on. The force of impact involving a speeding vehicle striking a dump truck moving at 50 MPH resulted in the fire. Dump truck was a 2006 Kenilworth Tri-Axle, and it sustained significant damage as a result.
I hate this road so much! And glad I didn’t witness this.
I really feel for the truck driver to have to see it coming and not be able to do anything about it.
Prayers to the family of the person who died.
Prayers for the driver of the truck.
The Ocean County Sheriff should create a permanent task force for enforcement on RT539 on a daily basis. It is obvious intermittent enforcement did not help and the issues on that road will not correct themselves.
surprised this doesn’t happen more often actually. Shame
Wth is a kenilworth?
Jim Rupinski type of dump truck, like Chevy, Ford, etc
I think it is a township. Kenworth is the truck
Jim Rupinski ah. My bad. Lol
