PRESS RELEASE-LAKEHURST MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on August 21, 2020, Richard Davis, 66, of Lakehurst, was arrested and charged with two counts of Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1).

On August 20, 2020, Lakehurst Police were contacted by a concerned parent regarding an adult male touching himself inappropriately in front of his two children who were playing in their yard at their residence in Lakehurst. Further investigation by the Lakehurst Police Department identified Davis as the actor. Davis was subsequently arrested and charged, and transported to the Ocean County Jail where he is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.

Prosecutor Billhimer wishes to acknowledge the Lakehurst Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit for their thorough investigation leading to Davis’ arrest.

The press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
