JCP&L Statement: Three thousand workers continue working 24/7 to assess damage and restore about 569,000 customers without power due to #TropicalStormIsaias, down from about 753,000 total customers affected. More crews are on the way, and we’ll be setting up additional staging sites to accommodate them. We will continue to provide updates throughout the day.
Following severe weather, our crews activate a formal process to restore customers as quickly and safely as possible. Learn how we prioritize restoration work: http://spr.ly/6185G5XSF
Still no power in holiday city Silverton… 22 hours
Desiree Domer it’s totally ridiculous
Desiree Domer I live in Holiday City Silverton no power
Someone needs to hold these people accountable for the trash infrastructure.
23 hours and counting. Toms River off New Hampshire a couple miles from 70
No power on route 166
What a CLUSTER ??CK of POWER OUTAGES IN THE JCP&L COVERAGE AREA!!!! FIRST ENERGY IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST NIGHTMARE OF A UTILITY COMPANY IN NJ!!!!! THEY ARE A REACTIVE – NOT PROACTIVE COMPANY. THEIR STORM PREPAREDNESS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
I’ve had a pole down with wires down since 11:30AM yesterday AND NO ONE FROM JCPL HAS EVEN COME TO CHECK IT OUT!!!!! No power in our entire neighborhood!!!
Lisa Marie ????
Lisa Marie maybe because they were fixing other poles/lines. They can’t be everywhere at the same time…
Chris Bruning you’re a smart young fella!!! LMAO.
Sorry tosay if may take a few days
POOR PLANNING from first enemy once again!
Chris Letts haaaa first enemy! Love it!!!
Rich Hurley that’s what rhw workers call their co. My father in law was chief lineman for 41 yes there, that’s what he called them.
Chris Letts haha that’s great. Time to come up with some good acronyms for “jcp&l” lol
Rich Hurley they were good co until fe bought them.
Chris Letts they were! We never had power outages when I was a kid. Like maybe one.
Chris Letts notice that until the buyout they successfully ran the first ever commercial nuclear power plant in america…one minor issue since 1969…and did a great job of it. They literally caused lacey township to become what it is today too.
The executives at First Energy care more about getting filthy rich than they do about a antiquated dilapidated power grid and their customers.
Rich Hurley they sold all nukes to excelon which also own 50% of Salem 1&2 units and 50% of peach bottom which pseg owns the other half of those units.
Chris Letts sucks they couldn’t leave well enough alone…
Rick Delmont fun with private equity, volume 1, it sounds like. PE ruins everything it comes in contact with
Rich Hurley yup! Excelon is horrible co. They tried merging w/pse&g years ago when I was there but bpu stopped it for several reasons. But it drove my stock up and split 2 for 1 so thay was good.
Hello, all. Just wanted to throw this out there. I made this. It is helpful in conditions like this. It can run a refrigerator or other small draw appliances for several hours. Deep cycle marine battery with 800 watt inverter hooked to it. Saved my butt several times. I think $180 for the battery and $80 for the inverter.
Rich Hurley 129 get a generator at harbor freight
You can do that too…i like that I can plop this anywhere and no worry about ventilation, no gas involved, etc. Very often the power comes back on before I have to break out the gennie.
Nice pix.
Buy a generator! Pretty simple we do live at the Jersey Shore where we can get a few hurricanes a year! Be prepared and stop blaming others!
Jeff, you do realize there are many seniors who are old, and may be frail and too weak to manage buying an running a generator.
So before you chastise others, maybe you should think not everyone is as healthy or capable as yourself?
Also, the Director/CEO of First Energy, is pulling down a cool 15 million dollars a year for running an energy company with high rates, an old and dilapidated powered grid, and numerous power failures.
Jeff Jurkiewicz generator does nothing if you don’t have water and can’t flush your toilets!
Lisa Perosi Morelli water has nothing to due with no power! If you don’t have water with power loss you have a bigger problem. Unless you have a well which you can hook generator to that as well.
Any info on cell service being down?
Skylar Mancini if you AT&T they said they’re having an outage bc of technical difficulties
Sara Marie thank you so much I am !!
Heather Salmons
Go do better…just saying. They work hard. Cut them some slack.
Laurie Bazzanella stop sticking up for them ????????????
Listen, someone has to be last. Suck it up and chill the F out.
Laurie Bazzanella I’m not. You can’t make me ????♀️????♀️????♀️
Thank you to all the linemen out there working 24/7!
Barbara Pishkur-Neuner Mike Neuner
But I thought after Sandy they were going to work to make things better. I have to say that they have not made things better.
Totally in acceptable explanations! You knew this storm was coming, this is all you do electric, you can’t wait till its on us then react. My son works 10 hrs a day and has a two year old! Put the supervisors to work!!
Robin Brown yes they know the storm is coming, but they can’t predict which lines/how many lines will be down. I’m sure they’re doing the best they can
I think for an hour we had the worst of the rain and wind over here and seaside because after that I was walking my dog. Not sure where the power lines were down over here because I did drive around last night I did not say one truck. I’m just curious as to what made the power go out over here for 12 hours if no lines were down
Lisa Arendt transformers blow etc. Doesn’t have to be about lines. It is very frustrating. The generic updates text out were useless and add to everyone’s frustration. They need to give more specific updates.
Lisa Arendt different electric company seaside heights
Christine Haspel SSH gets their power from JCP&L, SSH-the town is the administrator of all accounts.
Thank you to all the linemen out there, working their asses off, trying to get electricity to everyone.
Lol gotta love how ignorant some of you actually are, look at above illustration of how power is supplied
Imagine 600k jcpl customers are out
Then use your small brain and think about how this power system works
Go buy a generator to run your essentials
They forgot to mention trying to do it all under staffed. I deal with lineman all the time. Any of them will tell you, first energy tries everything they can to cut man power
But don’t try to claim your loss of food on insurance. Even if you took that on your policy, the insurance companies will raise your rates for daring to use it!
Theresa Loggia Kovacs had my policy for 20 yrs never used since I didnt know it was in policy so now I am using it for 3 x since April not having electric for 2 to 3 days
Rosemary Tuscano let us know if your rates go up!
Theresa Loggia Kovacs I have new jersey manufactures And they were reasonable for many yrs I’ve never had a claim and 2 years ago when they allowed anyone to purchase the rates went up a lot im saying they have other ways of getting more for premiums like the Governor who is putting a 2 1/2 percent tax on medical ins.
Rosemary Tuscano oh sure, NOW NJM allows anyone to join! Lol. I was a school bus driver for 15 yrs, and I wasn’t invited to the party. Used to think, geez, I have a CDL, and a clean driving record after 15 yrs of 54 kids in my back seat; and I can’t play at your house??? I was highly insulted!
Theresa Loggia Kovacs I worked for an ins company who was insured by njm and allowed employees to participate with lower rates and dividends so now you can get a quote but all of us are paying more
Rosemary Tuscano lol. Well, all good things come to an end. I left jersey for good, 2 yrs ago. Fulltime in the RV, but have a domicile in FL
I give these men a lot of credit. They work endless hours at a dangerous job. THANK YOU, STAY SAFE! ????????
Jillian Kellner Spano why we were one of the first. Right off a substation
Why is it that AC electric customers have power back already but not JCP&L?
Just curious, but wasn’t JCP&L supposed to spend 10s of millions of dollars after Sandy to upgrade the system?
Christopher John Karbownik gratful yes, but that’s what I’m saying. Seems like the same neighborhoods( older) are always the ones down. If those same neighborhoods & houses keep going down, then why did they not upgrade those neighborhoods or take care of the specific issue? Always the middle of the block in my case & unfortunately I am the middle. If someone sneezes, I’m down . for 35 years it’s been that way. Obviously there is an issue in the middle of the block.
Please don’t turn on my power, I don’t want it on.
THANK YOU TO ALL UTILITY WORKERS (INCLUDING MYSELF) WHO ARE WORKING AROUND THE CLOCK TO RESTORE POWER! YOU ARE APPRECIATED!
Cara Lynne Steven Anthony
Stay safe Linemen !!
Not for nothing but there should be no #6 we’re ALL paying customers so going to repair areas with the most customers just isn’t right……. jmo
Erin Jackson Jenna LaPietra soooo we are number 6
Erin at least you’re number 5 ????
Alexandra Mackanic fml
Ugh… I’m starting to think my house and job are #6
They were not prepared for the storm to be this bad. The steps they are taking are the correct steps. Restoring power to the hospitals, police/fire departments are the priority. Neighborhoods and individual services on homes knocked out are always the last priority. Yes they could have a better system in place. I’ve see. So many people complaining. Which is fine if that’s what you want to do. But these lineman are only humans and can only work so fast. If you don’t like it, you could always step up and become a lineman and show them how it’s done. Give the workers a break.
