BELMAR: On 7/18/20 at approximately 1:54pm, the Belmar Police Department responded to the 8th Avenue beach for a report of a subject entrapped in a hole that was dug in the sand approximately 8 feet deep. The sides of the hole caved in and the subject was no longer visible.
The Belmar Lifeguards, the Belmar First Aid Squad and the Belmar Fire Department also responded to the scene and through a coordinated effort, an 8-year-old boy was rescued from beneath the sand. The Paramedics were on standby and assessed the boy at the scene. The Belmar First Aid Squad transported the boy and his parents to Jersey Shore University Medical Center accompanied by the paramedics.
Is there any updates
says he was taken to the hospital so they were able to get to him in time. Just don’t know if he will be ok
Joseph Clappsy Sr. Its a scanner news page we never really get updates once the person has entered a vehicle (police car ambulance hearse)
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
That’s frightening
Joseph Lazok Zocktron??? Hahhaha
Larry Green Exactly…tide coming in!
That poor kid.
Stacy Clayton
Siobhan Jackson how does a parent stand by and watch as their 8yr old digs a hole that deep. 🤦♀️ I dont get it at all.
Stacy Clayton probably laying on their stomach scrolling on a phone or sleeping or more worried about tan lines or some bs I NEVER take my eyes off the kids at the beach never. A split second can change everything
Siobhan Jackson right, some people just don’t think🤦♀️
Where did you see the age of the victim?
Katie Beth in the article.
Jeff Paul Thank you, I couldn’t get the whole article to load
Katie Beth read!! the article🤦♀️
Peggy Brednich Belavich, maybe you should read. My comment clearly states I couldn’t get the article to load.
Katie Beth LOL
Wow my dad always warned me about this from as long as I can remember….. 😱
Kid was very, very lucky!!!
Hope hes ok 🙏🏼
Rescuers free child after sand hole caves in on him at Jersey Shore beach. Local lifeguards and emergency crews were able to rescue an 8-year-old boy Saturday afternoon after the walls of a hole he was digging in the sand on a Belmar beach caved in on him, police said.
8’ deep??? Wtf people??
Brian Belfiore right, 8ft!?!? 🤔
Thankfully the little boy is ok, but still .
Prayers
When will people heed the warnings??
🙏🙏
OMG, 8 feet deep? what a terrible fear to have on that family.
If the family cared they would have watched there kid . There sickening.
They tell you all the time not to dig deep holes😥😥😥😥
Who the hell lets their kid dig a hole 8 feet deep?
Marge Wells Anacker right? Omg scarey
Most likely a dumb ass adult did it.
Why was this not noticeable to the life guards. Or parents.
The guards are supposed to be watching the kids in the water. The parents are supposed to be watching them all the time….
The LBI guards & EMS train extensively on sand rescue. Seems to happen every other year….
Well he almost dug his own grave. I mean for real 8 feet deep that’s impressive to me . I can’t dig that deep. I guess he found his calling ( grave digger)
FYI it was funny. There’s enough drama in the state today . I figured I lighten it up with a Finny . If the kid passed a way I would not say a word. Don’t grill me please
Someone should grill you on your use of the English language.
Kelly Warren he likely did. It’s nearly impossible to resuscitate someone with crush injuries and sand in their lungs 🤷🏻♀️ very distasteful comment. It’s a child for Gods sakes
The first time I read the article the kid had not dug that deep the whole fell 8 feet down and after that the sides fell in; I don’t think there’s any human way for an eight-year-old to dig an 8 foot deep hole. I don’t know why the article does not state that any more explicitly? Still, I’m so happy to see other people complaining that the parents allow the kids to do this it’s terrible just beyond terrible. I wonder if the parent had any brain whatsoever? Good grief psycho horror story I keep thinking about this kid and all the other kids this happens to….
Why on earth didn’t someone stop him. I would have said something.
Debbie Andrian Tyler because he was quiet and preoccupied and the parents were happy to have him out of their hair. Probably scrolling on their phones or bs’ing with friends. Every weekend I’m at the beach and see these morons who now do these 3-4 family beach parties where they all line up their shit along the beach blocking everyone else from the water with their tents and umbrellas (no social distancing) and the parents hang out and drink and bs while the kids all run rampant unsupervised pissing off everyone else around them.
Debbie Andrian Tyler. Because when you or i say something to little Johny Misbehaving his parents Mindyour & OwnBuisness spend more time defending Mr Misbehaving than disciplining the brat.
Time was it took a village to raise a kid and we all worked together now Free-range parents or I-Wanna-Be-His-Friends folks tell us to MYOB and threaten us
Wow how scary !!
where was the parents ,didnt we go through this a while ago
Sorry for the kid . Parents suck watch your kid.Lifeguards and other people around are not your babysitters.
On vacation in the Outer Banks a kid had dug a hole tide came in and me my hubby and his parents spent at least 10 minutes trying to get him out. The sand was sucking him down. Thankfully he was ok. People don’t understand if they’re not normally by the beach 🙏🏼
Then people leave the holes and don’t fill them in
Wake up people
OMG

Definitely a dumb ass adult dug it.. probably playing around, and had his kids bury him, and left the hole.
Dumb ass parents
Omg! Hope they got him out safely. Eight is a young age (any age really) to get buried like that – terrifying!!!
Some parents think life guards are baby sitters I have even seen parents help dig
omg, digging deep holes should not be allowed period
Sarah Gameiro omg
🙏🏻💕
When we people learn….
Hope all is ok
Ali Lubrano
😥 hope they got him out ok. . . .
I knew a boy (7) who died this way 😔 horrific
Is there any updates on this kid was the OK good they get him out Hopefully sell kids will be kids but I guess there was no adult supervision
He was rescued and taken to the local hospital
That’s why they specifically say not to dig more than half the length of the smallest member of your group. So scary!!! Glad they saved him and hope people learn. The beach/ocean should always be taken seriously.
Ken Ro
I was there. Just uncomfortable being near a lot of people in the crowd to see it. I tried to keep distance.
Is he okay
Rule of thumb i was taught growing up in beach towns NEVER DIG A HOLE DEEPER THAN YOUR CALF MUSCLE if it goes up to your Knee it can kill you or another person
Bobbie Lyn Harrsch I was also taught the same thing. I hate going to the beach and seeing kids doing this.
So where was the beach patrol when they were digging. Stupid ppl
Poor kid has to suffer because he has stupid parents!!
Jennifer Baldino
N who the hell digs a hole 8ft deep???
Prayers he is ok.
