Toms River: Thankfully all the rumors turned out to be untrue. While there was a protest yesterday which began at Kohl’s and went to the courthouse- it was peaceful. OC Prosecutor Billhimer and TRPD Chief Little even joined the crowd with a banner proclaiming unity. This is the kind of compassion we expect from our local law enforcement as they have a good relationship with the community.

Many were fearing the worst fueled by social media rumors of busloads of out-of-towners coming to wreck havoc and loot. All that was were merely rumors spreading among our community pages attempting to spread hatred. All of us are proud of the way this was handled and thankful nothing negative occurred. The Toms River Police Department are nothing short of professionals. Not to say the fear was already spread as stores boarded up windows, and closed early. Today is a new day, and hopefully people have opened their eyes to the racial injustices that happen in the world today. Let us come together and appreciate human life, as it is the most valuable of any possessions we may have.
