Beachwood: As we posted earlier around 19:00, a deck collapsed on the 0 Block of Walnut. Two persons suffered injuries, and the fire department was quick to respond.

There probably wasn’t any. I live in Beachwood and besides drafting a plan and getting a permit. There were inspection. A couple along the way in each stage and then a final. So there weren’t any or someone wasn’t doing there job
Michael La Velle uh. I dont know what pictures you’re looking at or what point you’re trying to make, but this had nothing to do with the footings – because they’re still in the ground. In fact they were in the ground so solidly that the pillars snapped in half.
Matt Tottle idk but those don’t looked snapped in half to me. That picture looks like they sat on the ground but what do I know, I only built decks for 20+ years. Sorry your feelings seem so hurt bud. Was only an observation. Coming from someone who’s NEVER built something that fell apart ????♂️
Michael La Velle the middle post is still standing where it should be. What you should’ve said…DAMN! They should’ve used 5”- 1/2” lag bolts for the ledger. But hell, idk what I’m talking about ????♂️????♂️????♂️
Anthony John holy fuck. What a crew of sensitive men. Unbunch those panties fellas and reread the only an observation part again. 1 out of 3 stayed. Bravo fellas. Where shall I mail your statue of ?????
Anthony John either way a fucking hack built it. You 2 are so sensitive about it, are you the 2 hacks that built that piece of shit deck that fell? Mine never have ????♂️
Michael La Velle it’s actually pretty fucking simple observation. But that’s the fucking problem in this world these days…YOU WANT TO ACT LIKE YOUR BITCH ASS KNOWS IT ALL.
Michael La Velle but you know what I find hilarious…someone corrects you, and they’re the asshole. Instead of learning something new….your bitch ass wanna go cry and fucking complain STILL about footings. When the footing are DEFINITELY NOT why that deck failed. But hell…continue being the dumb mother fucker u are. The world is so small thru closed eyes ????????????????
Look closely at the house. Sill plate looks rotted out. Given the apparent age it was probably lagged in which was allowed by code up until 10 years or so ago. Deck ties are required now so this doesn’t happen.
Damn. Hope everyone is ok

Looks to me like it failed where it was attached to the house.
