Three State Troopers Help Deliver Baby on the New Jersey Turnpike

Yesterday, three New Jersey State Troopers assisted in the delivery of a baby on the New Jersey Turnpike in Monroe Township, Middlesex County.

On Saturday, May 16, at approximately 10:05 a.m., Troopers Robert Murray, Pierre Noel, and Marcin Ziobron, of Troop “D” Cranbury Station, responded to a medical assist at Interchange 8A on the Turnpike where a woman who was nine months pregnant was in active labor.

When the troopers arrived, the woman’s husband, a truck driver, led them to the cab of his tractor where his wife was lying in a bunk preparing to give birth.

As Trooper Murray entered the cab of the truck, the expectant mother told him that the baby was coming. Along with Monroe Township EMS and paramedics, the troopers and first responders helped deliver a beautiful baby girl within minutes of their arrival.

Troopers Noel and Ziobron retrieved towels and blankets from their troop cars to wrap the baby prior to taking her to an ambulance for evaluation.

Shortly after giving birth, the mother became incoherent and lethargic due to a significant loss of blood during the delivery.

The EMTs and paramedics immediately transported mother and baby to Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, where they were last listed as stable and doing well.
