Toms River: At approximately 19:45 on Friday May 8, 2020 a Grubhub driver pulled into the Taco Bell on NJ 37 East @ Law for an order pickup. The victim, Christopher, went to the front door of the restaurant to retrieve a customer’s food order. Christopher parked his vehicle on the side of the restaurant along the fence near the rear of the store. The accused party parked their Black Pickup Truck next to the victim’s and struck the vehicle as he pulled out. The victim’s fiancee tells the following story and is asking the public to help identify. Anyone with knowledge of the incident, or who can ID the driver in the photos/videos is asked to contact Toms River Police Department.

“At approximately 7:54pm, while Christopher was standing waiting by the front door, a black pickup truck parked right next to him, having come in from the same Partridge Street entrance. The man driving (see pictures: Caucasian, mid/late 30’s-early 40’s based on the hairline, wears a white mask with a respirator, khakis, plaid, light\brownish or possibly greying hair, probably about 5’10″tall, maybe a bit shorter) he gets out of his truck, jogs up to the Taco Bell side entrance, pulls on the door, throws his hands up, walks back to his truck, backs out, and drives back out onto Partridge/Law and then speeds off down Rt. 37.

While DOING this he cut his wheel FAR too early, and hit Christopher’s car, and then he ran. Christopher only knows these details because TB reviewed the security footage to try to help, he was on the wrong side of the building so we didn’t see the accident happen, and unfortunately the images are very blurry and you cannot see plates.
The truck appears to be a newer model year Toyota Tacoma or something very similar. Eyewitnesses in the drive through confirmed the truck was Black. There is glare coming off the rear bumper, the top of the grill, and the side mirrors, making it appear to have a chrome package.

When this truck hit our White Hyundai Elantra, it caused the following damage: Dents and paint-deep scratches in rear passenger door, ~10″ dent and paint damage on rear passenger quarter panel, scratches and paint damage to the rear fender, snapped off the rear passenger mud guard.

Things are hard enough for all of us right now without people like this getting away with bad deeds. This will either cost Christopher’s $750 insurance deductible to fix, likely hurting our premium, or ~$1150 to do it ourselves. Christopher works so hard at his two jobs, during the day repairing the automation equipment used to analyze medical Diagnostic Tests, including Covid-19 swabs. At night he hits the road to deliver food to people who either can’t leave there homes or are doing the right thing to protect our community by limiting travel as much as possible.”
