On Saturday May 2nd @ 1:08 pm the Ship Bottom Police Department was dispatched to the 26th Street Beach for two female juveniles who were struck by a Ship Bottom Beach Patrol vehicle. One 14 year old female of Fleetwood, PA and one 15 year old of Leestwood, PA were laying on the beach when the beach patrol vehicle struck them. The driver was John Purdon, 22, of Barnegat, NJ. The juveniles were transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center where they were treated and later released from the hospital to their families. Mr. Purdon was charged with Reckless Driving pending his court date.

The Barnegat bike trail was packed with hordes of moms and kids, no masks, obviously not from the same household walking together. One group blocked the entire path…way to get the parks closed right back up

I’m not saying anything is ok here, but 1 they were from PA. What are they doing here in the first place? 2 a lot of times they lay in the tracks making it hard to see them or they dig holes and lay in them. 3 that guy really needed to be paying better attention.

Jennifer Polito Kelly I think beaches were closed by town not by state. Our local beaches are closed with a few exceptions. Seems like towns without boardwalks allowed their beaches to remain open. Towns with boardwalks seem to have closed both boardwalks and beaches.
