The impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the community of Lacey Township has been felt by us all. Many of us know a friend, family member or co-worker who has been affected. The same holds true at the ShopRite of Lacey, where a member of our work family – the associates who provide essential services every day – has reported a confirmed case of COVID-19.
You should know that ShopRite is prepared and has implemented the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommended protocols to reduce the spread of the virus, including:
· Making sure the diagnosed associate is no longer in the workplace.
· Notifying colleagues who may have been in close contact with the affected associate.
· Implementing deep cleaning procedures including sanitizing all workspaces used by the associate and common areas including high-touch areas throughout the store.
· Promoting social distancing by reducing store occupancy to prevent crowding.
· Placing plexiglass shields by registers to provide a measure of protection to our associates and customers.
· Ensuring all store associates wear face coverings.
· Implementing a temperature monitoring program that checks the temperatures of all associates and vendors as they arrive for work.
To learn more about these measures, please visit http://facts.wakefern.com.
It’s important that you know we remain committed to transparency and we think sharing this information with you is the right thing to do. We also feel it’s important to protect the privacy of our hardworking colleagues; should we learn of additional associates who have been affected, we’ll continue to implement the CDC protocols.
For nearly 75 years, ShopRite has played an important role during times of crisis and, once again, we see our customers – many of whom are also our friends and neighbors – turning to us for the food and supplies they need. While we can’t predict the evolution of this unpredictable challenge that Lacey Township is facing, please know we are doing everything we can to protect the health and safety of our associates and customers while continuing to serve the community we all call home.

Better close all the stores then, because more stores have positive cases that we’re being told about.

Christopher Gaffney most people with COVID-19 who are symptomatic are sick for approximately 1 month, sometimes longer. The incubation period is up to 14 days.
Colleen Desmond Brandt now I am confused the 14 day people is stay at home then
Christopher Gaffney yes, if you think you have been exposed then you quarantine for 14 days. But for those who become symptomatic many of them they are sick for upwards of a month or even more
Colleen Desmond Brandt thank you now I understand

My son works there a d this is the first he heard about it. Not a happy momma!!!
Dorothy Raiford they are not obligated to tell the employees if they were not in direct contact with effected employee.
Kayla Pace hippa law
Joanna Sickelletu right.
So have the employees worry if they where infected? Least they can say a department. Not on here but pull them aside individually. In my house I have a mother who can catch it also myself with a very bad autoimmune system. Just saying. I’m not trying to argue.
Dorothy Raiford they tell the people who came in contact. If your son wasn’t told that means he didn’t come in contact with them……
Dorothy Raiford That’s crazy! I work at the grocery store out here. It’s called Giant. They let all employees know by phone as soon as they knew. As long as they don’t release the name of the associate, how is that a HIPPA violation??

1 employee masked with coronavirus and probably 800 customers who have came in there with it not reported but people only care about that 1 masked employee
Kristin Smith THANK YOU! Finally someone else gets it!
Kristin Smith preach it girl ❤
Kristin Smith no and they care about the rest of the staff and customers who may have come within 6 ft of them for more then 10 min so know what your talking about before you open your mouth
Kristin Smith looks like you went and pissed off a “Top fan”.
But if the executive order to wear masks is to keep from passing the virus to others, then, theoretically, anyone who came within 6 ft of the employee should be ok. Otherwise, what is the point of all of us wearing the masks? We were told it’s not to prevent us from contracting it but from spreading it ????♀️
Peter Destefano first off I’m a nurse so I do know what I’m talking about I’m aware of how viruses spread especially this one that’s how I go to work everyday and don’t catch it????. They’re screening every employees temperature at a separate location from the store before they can even go to work so chances are that’s how this employee found out they had it. They were probably sent home before even entering the store. Everyone has been masked in the store as well even the customers now so unless you’re not following proper CDC guidelines you shouldn’t be exposed. Any employees who were in direct contact with this person would be notified personally by management not find out on facebook????
Megan Heffernan Please, never try logic on people working from fear.

Who ever you are feel better. God bless.
Hopefully they haven’t been working at the store recently. Beside that point, ????. at least put out a date range when they were working so people who go to the store can be aware!
Chris Haynes we should ask every customer who’s been in the buildings the same thing. Poor employee was just doing his job and probably got it from a customer.
Anne Klimovich you’re probably right. But, if they are going to post it and let people know of it to help people be aware, then least put a date range.
Ellen Higney
Cailyn Pepper
Susi Q Gery idk if you shop at this one but just in case
Cassandra Rose sometimes I do! Thanks for the heads up ❤️❤️
They should make it so all stores report Acme and stop and shop do not report to media and their employees have it too. Not only shop rite employees have this virus
Cathy Bruno Bottorff the whole country has the virus! Any customer next to you could have it why should the employees have to put their medical info on blast to you?? Wear a mask, practice proper hygiene, and stay home if you’re so worried. You won’t catch the virus by looking at someone
Kristin Smith my point was I know people who won’t shop in shoprite because they see that shoprite is letting people know their employees have it. Well the other stores employees have it too. It’s sort of silly to think just because media isn’t reporting cases in stop n shop or acme they don’t exist. That’s all I was saying. I stay home
Cathy Bruno Bottorff no actually it’s silly and stupid that people would boycott a store after hearing that an employee there tested positive when the virus is literally everywhere and any store could have it

If you think knowing the employees schedule will help you determine if you’re safe and in the clear, you really need to think about all those shoppers you were around, the products you touched in the store, your phone and credit card, what you touched in your car, etc.
It’s nice that Shoprite is releasing this info, because others stores aren’t (which doesn’t mean they dont have any cases btw), but there’s A LOT more to worry about than one employee who was wearing a mask.
Amanda Grace omg. Just stop! This is Shoprite being transparent as they said. You ridiculous ranting diatribe is just that , a rant
Betty Wallace You need better reading comprehension/receptive language skills. “JUST STOOOPPPP” ????????????
Hope they get well soon. Someone everywhere has it.
Speedy recovery ❤️
Maryann Updike Murphysee another
Shop Rite. It has to be a Wakefern issue. .
The Shoprite on 37 has positive cases and they’re not Wakefern, as do other SRs outside of OC that aren’t owned by them. There are other stores in TR with cases that aren’t Shoprite, too. It’s not a Shoprite issue, it’s a global issue.
Amanda Grace they use the same warehouse. all the shoprites use Wakefern
Not saying it’s a Wakefern owned store
I myself haven’t heard of any other supermarkets with positive cases
Amanda Grace
That’s a joke right? Hundreds of people in stores everyday and you don’t think at least some of them are asymptomatic? It if was a warehouse issue there would be more than a few employees. Other stores have cases they just aren’t reporting it since reporting isn’t mandatory.
No it’s not a joke I just find it odd that shop rites are the only supermarkets that have reported cases and they all use the Wakefern warehouses No stop and shop no Acme no Aldi no Lidl etc. and yes there are more than a few employees. The employees in the warehouses are sick or don’t come to work in fear of getting sick as per the stores not having supplies. Not enough help in the warehouses to complete the orders or drivers to deliver what can get loaded. Just my opinion. I worked for one of the shoprites owned by Wakefern
I understand what Wakefern is lol. I used to work there and I have family members that have for years and still do. Why have haven’t you heard of other supermarkets? Because they aren’t releasing that information. You dont find it strange that Shoprite is the only one with cases? I know of 2 stores in the TR area that aren’t associated with Wakefern that have positive cases. They’re choosing not to report it, unlike SR.
Mary Szabo Sacchetti it’s not a Wakefern issue. The issue is that the employee is a person who was expanded to multiple people in the community on a daily basis. It’s a community issue
Mary Szabo Sacchetti Shoprite is the only store reporting them, that’s why you’re only seeing Shoprite reports. If you don’t think someone with Corona hasn’t been in Walmart, Aldis, Lidl, Target, Stop and Shop, etc you’re naive.
Dave Herman
Eloise Eckert

Yvonne Hierspiel noooooooooo! ????
My question Shop Rite is the only store that has covid 19? I mean no one else reports
Raz Hasanoeddin-Appuliese
It seems only Shop-Rite has been transparent with this reporting.
No. I know of two stores in the are with at least one, very recently, positive cases. Shoprite is just the only store letting the public know.
Jennifer Ferrara DaRoja
Soraya Ahmed
Taylor Nicole yea I heard I’m not going there
Michele Mino
Shoprite seems to be the only store reporting
Prayers hoping for a good recovery ????????
How many people who work at the same SR came down with the flu this season?
Bob Shields well considering so many kids were out in December because of the flu or strep I’m sure a lot.
Julie Farrell Todd thanks for the facts…. “I’m sure a lot”. Lmao. But nobody gave a shit then? The media tells you to stay home or you’ll die. And you do. So laughable
Bob Shields all they did back in December was push the flu vaccine.
Julie Farrell Todd yup.
Bernadette RaeAnn
Tiffany Lynn haven’t been thank god
Good!!

Ashley Dorry Matthew Dorry
Danny Perotti tell ur mom be careful if she go here
Valeri Sano i did alot earlier bugss
Who’s the employee??
HIPPA protects the person’s information from being released. It doesn’t really matter. As soon as you step into a public area like a store, you’re putting yourself at risk because you don’t know who has it, employee or customer.
Nicholas DeStefano why would you think it was your business? Wow. Guess what, it’s everywhere. In medical facilities, police departments, all open stores…do you really think Walmart’s, wawas, and targets have no employees positive. And they aren’t telling you because they don’t have to.
Hope they recover!
Diana Bentley
Ummm no stores report it fact
Omg when daddy sees this he’s gonna yell at me!! Lol I was begging him last Saturday to go here!????????Larissa Monique Perez

Emily Covella ooohhh boyyy
They won’t. They didn’t close any others that had confirmed cases.
Jason Forbey shoprite on rt.37 has like 20 cases and 2 deaths
Daniel Pic and they still didn’t close. Message me who died. The only ShopRite that I know of is bayville with none.
Jason Forbey bayville shoprite has taken proper precautions and they have people cleaning all the time. It’s great there. 37 is awful.
Prayers for healing

So many of us probably have this virus and dont even know. Not all symptoms are the same. Common flu signs are most likely easier to diagnose.
Millions of people had / have the virus and don’t even know it. We have to learn to live with it because it isn’t going to just vanish in the next month or two.
Sandy Russo Oriole
Jennifer Hicks
Carol Vidovic ya I saw that yesterday. I haven’t been in ShopRite in a long time. I’m not surprised though.
Idgaf i still need my salami and provolone
They are talking about Lacey Shop Rite, correct? Asking because the pic looks like the Bayville Shop Rite.
It doesn’t really matter. The virus is literally everywhere, lurking in all the corners lol.
How does this info get leaked. Pretty sure it break HIPPA laws or something.
Scott A Barnes I believe they can say there is a case. They just can not name the person.
Teri Wavra id check on that
https://www.natlawreview.com/article/hipaa-privacy-rule-waiver-other-medical-information-questions-during-covid-19
Teri Duffell Wavra patients automatically have privacy rights. These facilities have leaks to the media
If you are going out to a place like Walmart or ShopRite always assume that there’s a risk you’ll be exposed. This companies do their best to make it safe but there’s only so much you can control.
