The impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the community of Toms River has been felt by us all. Many of us know a friend, family member or co-worker who has been affected. The same holds true at ShopRite of Rt. 37 Toms River, where two members of our work family – the associates who provide essential services every day – have reported being diagnosed with a case of COVID-19. As soon as the individuals alerted us, all store associates were notified.
We also immediately implemented the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended protocol to reduce the spread of the virus and implemented our own enhanced deep cleaning process including sanitizing all workspaces used by the associate and common areas.
The well-being of our customers and associates is our number one priority.
To protect our patrons and dedicated associates, we have proactively undertaken a series of enhancements to create the safest shopping environment possible.
These measures include:
-The installation of Plexiglas shields at every register, the pharmacy, and customer service counter.
-The designation of special registers for our elderly and immuno-compromised customers.
-Providing masks and gloves to all our associates.
-The posting of social distancing reminders throughout the store.
-Utilizing the overhead messaging system to continually remind patrons to keep a safe distance from each other.
The store remains open and continues to follow all necessary guidelines as recommended by the CDC.
Grocery stores are an essential business and we’re proud of the amazing dedication our associates are demonstrating to our communities during this emergency. We’re grateful for their commitment to keeping our stores open and shelves stocked with essential products. While we are always pleased to have customers’ patronage, we’re especially thankful for their continued patience and support during this crisis.
The containment of the Coronavirus is a shared responsibility and we remind everyone:
-If you are sick, please refrain from coming to the store
-Cover your coughs and sneezes
-Wash your hands regularly and do not touch your face
-Practice social distancing, wherever possible
Wall put out same statement and also ironically two employees
Clem Faruolo
Brick put out the same exact statement also two employees. Where is the truth??
Not going there for a bit

Eileen Rizzo Gonzalez
Desiree Hofer Jessica Dickson

Cin Dickson but getting scary out there
Chris Corallo
We knew it was going to happen. I also feel bad that these workers also wear the same gloves while checking multiple people out. Cross contamination. It only takes 1 second to forget that something was touched or to forget you have gloves on and touch your face or hair. I learned my lesson the first time I worked in a hospital and had a code brown to clean up. Cross contamination is everywhere ????????♀️????????♀️
Heard it was 5.
I heard Colonel Mustard has it
Toni-Marie Mack in the library?
Monica Maione
You would think masks and gloves would have been used for sometime with this going on, a bit late to party
Joseph Todaro gloves have been used since the panic of mass buying few weeks ago.
They need to CLOSE all grocery stores, allow staff to work but only do pick up, at the door, right to the trunk. Pay ahead. Will open up alot more pick up times, no one has to interact and they can control amounts. Much safer for everyone.
Marie Blair I work at shoprite and said this weeks ago…shut the doors…stock the shelves….and let every employee do shop from home
Janelle Lee I agree. It’s sad because I don’t want to leave the house and there are zero delivery slots anywhere for weeks out this would be safer for all Thank you for working…please stay safe. God bless you.
Marie Blair thank u u too
Janelle Lee I have a Shoo Rite from Home order to pick up tomorrow. Do you think that’s safe?
Yes you’ll be ok
Marie Blair I agree
Marie Blair people will panic and lose their shit if they try to close
A lot is the delivery tho. I get upset I can never find delivery or pick up times anywhere and have to go to the store. If time is taken for OFFICIALS to clearly explain it, it may go over much better. I can’t imagine them trying it tho because sadly we are right, people will end up losing there shit in panic
Lisa Larsen just bring it all in with gloves, remove the bags and throw away, disinfect/wipe down every item and let it sit for 15 minutes or so in a different area (for the disinfectant to work). While you’re doing that disinfect the 1st area you put the groceries in. Wash your hands multiple times and then put everything away. It sounds ridiculous but that’s what we did today.
Marie Blair you must be joking. Yeah let’s close the food stores. Do you know how many elderly can only get to the store once a week with ride sharing services ? How the hell would they eat
Betty Wallace EXACTLY. They wouldn’t have to go out at all. The food could be delivered. They would be able to get what they need/want instead of what’s left over and wouldn’t be contaminated or contaminate anyone else. I realise this isn’t a thought many would like because none of us like change. I am simply just saying my thoughts on how EVERYONE could get what they need, and EVERYONE could stay safe. Workers would still work and get $ but wouldn’t have to interact physically with public or there germs left behind. Open minded thought. Surely nothing to cause you anxiety or frustration that’s for sure. And an answer to your question, yes I am very aware of the elders needs. If looking at the bigger picture, this would be better for them. Plus if you have ever shopped while the bus load come in, you surely know this is a time of interaction for them, which sadly needs to be avoided ATM
Marie Blair we tried ordering online @ Mar 23 (?) and couldn’t be del before the 2nd wk in Apr. I inquired about pickup at store, same deal. How many seniors can wait for 3-4 wks to get food deliveries? Not just seniors, ppl with special needs. That’s the biggest reason they risk going to the store for supplies. They often don’t have the finances to buy in bulk and if they did wouldn’t have the rm to store them. They’re stuck between a rock and a hard place!
Yes because they have very limited slots for delivery/pick up for EVERYONE. That’s what I was originally talking about. And was trying to figure out how everyone could get delivered/pickup hence closing stores so the 20 employee could move over to preparing delivery/pick up without the interaction making many more slots.
Marie Blair close the doors, do just shop at home, use ALL your employees to help shop at home and that would open up a ton of slots for pickup or delivery. Don’t cut hours just because you go to strictly using shop at home. I think it could work and would be a lot safer then having 1,000+ customers in the stores a day
Betty Wallace and most elderly dont have computers to even attempt toorder on line
They have phones.
Denise Moeller
Stephanie Moeller-Aquino they need to shut all business down and just do curbside pick up until all this starts to slow down..lets think of people’s lives and not the almighty dollar..they will still make out ok..walmart pharmacy already does curbside..keep everyone except the essential workers in the stores
Denise Moeller Noone Will ever get it!
Stephanie Moeller-Aquino Nope!!!
Denise Moeller I think it’s more about the panic it would create, not the almighty dollar. You saw how everyone reacted when this first started.
Lydia Sargent Gaeta I don’t think it will create panic to close temporarily for at least 2weeks and still order curbside like most are doing..there are way too many just hanging out in these stores because they are bored and we are open..unless you work in one you have no idea! It has become the new family hangout spot..the park..the playgroung..and people just walking around just because and even infants uncovered..this will never slow down as long as this is continued and social distancing is a joke right now..why should me and my family’s life be at risk because of this..its people like you and your mindset are the ones that keep this pandemic speading..NO ON CAN JUST STAY HOME like you’re supposed to!!
Denise Moeller goodness, my mindset is fine, thank you. I didn’t leave my house for 3 weeks.
Lydia Sargent Gaeta panic!? I’m SURE everyone will be fine for 2 weeks staying in their home! It’s the SAME people showing up at these stores EVERYDAY bc they’re bored! It is the problem. I’m positive by now, that almost everyone’s home is stocked up enough to last 2 weeks so that this virus can stop spreading.
Stephanie Moeller-Aquino there are no slots for pickups right now they are booked out for months
Marissa Leatherwood I’m sure everyone is set for 2 weeks. It’s not that long to sacrifice a little to help keep this under control
Stephanie Moeller-Aquino I think you are wrong. My refrigerator and freezer section is so small I can’t have two weeks worth of food stored!
Mary Faust mine isn’t big and I have 4 kids. I make it work. 2 weeks isn’t that long. Pantry items? Everyone is entitled to their opinions and some all have valid points. The reality though, it’s not gonna stop spreading if people can’t sit and wait it out a couple weeks. It needs to be under control.
Stephanie Moeller-Aquino if selfish people hadnt hoarded stuff everybody would have essential food and paper products to carry them over

????????????
A manager working at Costco and BJ leaked they have been seeing employees crossed off the schedule for 14 days and upper management is not communicating with anyone! They quarantine themselves in upper offices or home delegating orders to the over worked and short staffed employees! The range of so many different things there are impossible to keep clean and sanitized especially with a limited staff! Soo many people are positive and don’t even know it cause we can’t or won’t get f****n tested…
Justin Turczak
Amy Cavanaugh posts doesn’t make sense at all.
But at my store no one has been cut at all for 14 days since I’m friendly with almost all workers and would notice. A lot fully have left the company though in fear of getting the virus
i heard that if anyone leaves for fear of the virus that they cannot be fired either! The wonderful governor said that
If you’re going to a grocery store thinking it’s not there or some employees don’t have it or at least half of the 200 people shopping with you aren’t infected you need to better educate yourself. Every bag goes in the back seat, leather so it can be sprayed and wiped down. No bags enter my house. Everything is staged on a table outside. Nothing comes in until it is completely wiped down with disinfectant.
Vincent Carmelo Neveroski that’s what we do
Fran Carbone Guzman you have to treat it as if it were everywhere, on everything and that everyone has it. It’s the only way to make sure. I live with 2 people, both high risk. One is 72 with severe sleep apnea and the other has mixed connective tissue disorder, lupus/scleroderma/arthritis. I have no choice but to act like it could kill someone I love.
Vincent Carmelo Neveroski ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! I myself have Crohn’s disease and, the medicine I’m on depletes my immune system. Taking NO chances. Be safe
You mean just because a store hasn’t released info on a confirmed case, it might not be safe?! Damn, and I thought I just had to avoid shoprite specifically since it seems like shoprite “attracts” (saw someone use that exact word lol) the virus. ????????

They still don’t want their employees wearing masks multiple employees have said this..
Gary J Waters don’t know where you heard this but everyone in that store is wearing masks and gloves. Everything is being sanitized from the front to the back on a daily basis.
Rosanne Benigno Argenziano
Thank you, I did not see this post.
If you are sick stay the f*ck out of the store. You are making us sick.
Andrea Hirs no one knows in the first 2 weeks since don’t show symptoms
Every supermarket and Wal-Mart, have at least 3 employees out with it. Don’t be fooled thinking no one has it. Just use common sense. Don’t touch your face. Wash your hands.
Why is it ShopRites? I haven’t read about any other stores. Are they the only ones publicizing it? Haven’t heard of stop and shop or Lowe’s etc. or did I miss them?
Bryan Donahue i Work a retail store myself and watch for this. But no one else yet. And no Bjs employees of TR yet
This no surprise! If the food stores and pharmacies are the only things open, then that is where the virus will congregate!
Tam Ara Ty Williams
Michelle Haug I’m not even surprised! It’s everywhere at this point smh
Michelle Haug thanks! Ridiculous. I go to self check out now but this is getting crazy
Joey Griscavage
Louise Touchette ????
Probably 10 more have it or had it and went undiagnosed.
