On April 1, 2020 at 7:00 am, the final message from MONOC, the Monmouth Ocean Hospital Services Corporation was made over the air to our on duty essential employees. The Message: After 40 years of service to our member hospitals and their surrounding communities, we now say goodbye to our incredible paramedics, nurses, EMTs, and dispatchers, who have worked tirelessly to care for those in need within our communities and dedicated themselves to the mission of MONOC.
To our friends in the EMS community, we thank you for your support. To the new MICU programs starting anew throughout our service area, we turn the torch over to you and hope that you carry it forward with reverence. We are comforted by the knowledge that we set the tone and led the way in EMS in NJ for decades.
All the best to all of you as you find your next path forward.
All units are back home and safe. GOD Speed!
What was the reasoning for them to end?
Roberta Staples Cartwright they were struggling financially and relying on the hospitals to subsidize their operations and hackensack meridian health decided to end the subsidization of them cause HMH was in the process of merging alert with hackensack ambulance services to form hackensack meridian health ambulance services.
Thank you.
Who is replacement?
Who is dispatching?
Neil Feibusch it went to HMH and RWJ
Mike Roth how do they cover Monmouth/ ocean?
Neil Feibusch rwj has always been a back up unit to some monmouth towns. So now instead of the towns or sherif departments calling monoc for also they will now call rwj or hmh for a unit. The 2 companies also hired a lot of the medics that were from monoc so those medics are now posted in the areas they used to work just in vehicles that say a different name and still the same coverage
Mike Roth thanks
Sorry to see you go. Wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Your service was appreciated to all you served.
Goodbye good riddance. You “robbed” my family of close to $1000 when we were at our most vulnerable. My elderly Mom was very ill and was well taken care of by our local paramedics and transported to emergency. Monoc never entered the house and charged us $2000 for nothing… standing outside. Nothing but ambulance chasers. ????
They sure are. Medical insurance should take care of the ride but nope! It doesn’t make any sense at all. You need an ambulance for an emergency and your insurance doesn’t matter!? Its robbery at its finest.
Maddie De Luca I’m glad that because you don’t understand to he difference between local first aid, and paramedics, you celebrate over 300+ people losing their jobs. I guess you really can put a price on your health. $1000
Steve Michael Sheerer but they weren’t even the ones who transported! I was there 100% of the time. Monoc just observed from outside. I’m happy they are out of business.
Again. You’re happy that hundreds of dedicated providers are out of jobs. No matter what happened. That’s is a disgusting comment and you should be ashamed.
Of course that’s not what I meant. Don’t start your crap here. I’m not ashamed that they took advantage of my 89 year old Mom.
My crap? Took advantage of? Did they raid her wallet or medicine cabinet? I’m sure if they billed her there were services rendered. How else did they get her information? I’m sure they assessed her, using a cardiac monitor, calling medical control to speak to a Dr concerning continuing care. We’re healthcare providers, out there every single day putting ourselves and our families at risk to help perfect strangers. But please tell me more about how we took advantage of her.
I worked there for 20 years in billing. Only Medicare part B pays for ambulance services. MONOC could not transport patients, only volunteers or paid BLS per EMS regulations. Look it up.
Lori A McDade exactly. Most likely the paramedics treated in the back of the BLS truck at scene, and en route to the hospital. Just because they weren’t in the house, doesn’t mean they never rendered care. You and I know that. Many others don’t, causing them to have the wrong idea as to what actually happened.
Lori A McDade then why did they charge so much when they never set foot in the house?
❤❤❤
Thank you and how sad this is !
Yes they robbed me also never asked them to come to my house and they give me a bill for miles and gas of over $3000 ridiculous goodbye good riddance
Gaiil Daly Kimpel oh well my bill was 6000.00
No itemization at all
Just mileage ….. and oxygen -from freehold centra state to Jersey shore!
Robbed my mother also over 2000 or more see ya good riddance!
Amanda Marie EXCATLY!!! They are ambulance chasers
Bye bye
Bye bye
I worked there for 20 years, in billing. every few years they had a layoff of a certain amount of employees because of budgets.
Bye! And take ya outrageous ass bills with ya.
Alert is just as bad, if not worse with their outrageous bills for inept service.
Who will do the air transportation
Steven Whitfield Jr Hatzolah
Marc Rodger that’s a scary fucking thought
Jeff Bacon Jr. Shit is gona get crazier
Steven Whitfield Jr Hackensack meridian health system has their own flight medics as well as RWJ I believe.
Steven Whitfield Jr Air Methods and Med-Trans operate out of Ocean County airport for Hackensack Meridian and Robert Wood Johnson respectively.
Leah Wolcott
