The impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the community of Manchester has been felt by us all. Many of us know a friend, family member or co-worker who has been affected. The same holds true at ShopRite of Manchester, where a member of our work family – the associates who provide essential services every day – has reported a confirmed case of COVID-19.
You should know that ShopRite is prepared and has implemented the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommended protocols to reduce the spread of the virus, including:
· Making sure the diagnosed associate is no longer in the workplace
· Asking colleagues who may have been in close contact with that person to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days
· Implementing deep cleaning procedures including sanitizing all workspaces used by the associate and common areas.
· Taking extra steps to deep clean and sanitize food contact surfaces and high-touch areas throughout all our stores while promoting social distancing and putting up Plexiglas shields to provide a measure of protection to our associates and customers. To learn more about these measures, please visit http://facts.wakefern.com.
It’s important that you know we remain committed to transparency, and we think sharing this information with you is the right thing to do. We also feel it’s important to protect the privacy of our hardworking colleagues; should we learn of additional associates who have been affected, we’ll continue to implement the CDC protocols.
For nearly 75 years, ShopRite has played an important role during times of crisis and, once again, we see our customers – many of whom are also our friends and neighbors – turning to us for the food and supplies they need. While we can’t predict the evolution of this unpredictable challenge that Manchester is facing, please know we are doing everything we can to protect the health and safety of our associates and customers while continuing to serve the community we all call home.

” Implementing deep cleaning procedures including sanitizing all workspaces used by the associate and common areas.

This should be DAILY not just when someone is testing positive. Just saying.
Doris Von S it’s not being done at all
Just want to Share. I was there shopping last week and I saw them cleaning the handles on The refrigeration.
Doris Von S they do that store is deeply cleaned every three hours
Karen Vermeal do you work there, do you clean it?
Gayle Heinrich Cortes my son is a manager there thank you
Karen the stores are not being cleaned every three hours. Sorry to tell you. I know many people that work for different ShopRites.
Karen Vermeal that’s why your saying what you are saying, but I bet if the employees are asked about true professional cleanings they will say something different, must be a Perlmutter thing
Are daily prescreening of workers for fever and symptoms being done like some healthcare facilities?
Doris Von S I don’t know why people have to be so negative with what they say with what’s going on believe what you may stay safe
Karen saying something that is the truth and would benefit people staying healthy is not negative. ShopRites do not deep clean every three hours. I will believe what I see and what is going on. Thank you. Please stay safe also.
Doris Von S I’m so sad that you think this is humor those workers are jeopardizing their own health to serve people you should be a shamed of yourself!!
its funny because people think they know but they dont work there. manchester shoprite has people in hazmat suits coming in to clean daily. wtf they are trying their best. people complain they arent doing enough but then would freaking complain that they couldnt get in the store to go shopping because they only limit a certain number in the door. people say give employees masks but even hospital staff is wearing masks yet civilians are hoarding masks and wearing them improperly into the stores and leaving those and used gloves in the parking lot. shit this all came so unexpected yet people cant be freaking grateful for trying their best with what they are given. if people are so freaking dissatisfied with the way things are being handled stay the **** home and stop complaining . i am tired of my husband coming home from shoprite daily miserable because people are @$$holes and ungrateful and give him a hard time for not having something in stock or complaining about registers not being opened or bringing their entire families into the store. it is never enough and if people meaning employees are dissatisfied with working sanitation issues or not feeling safe call new jersey department of labor, utilize the 30 days off unpaid, or just quit already. the worst is people who continuously complain and think they can do better yet dont reach out to proper authorities with suggestions or who stay stagnant and bitch and complain just to bitch and complain.
Karen humor?? No one said anything about humor. What’s wrong with you? I have friends working in these stores who are dealing with the public daily putting themselves out there and are getting sick! Only thing I’m ashamed of is a corporation not protecting its employees better like all the suggestions above!!
Bob
Doris Von S I also have my son who works there’s has been working 16 hours a day because he is a manager who I’m worried sick over that he’s going to get it being exposed six days a week but he gets up and goes to work everyday to serve people so to stand there and say it’s Shoprite’s fault or say that store is not being deep cleaning is not the truth this virus is all over the place people dying and yes you do find humor in this because you made a laughing face at my comment before so yes you should be ashamed of yourself!!!!!!!
Sarah I am sure they clean daily. The woman above said they are deep cleaning every three hours. I’m not saying anything about the employees, it’s Wakefern that should be making sure they are all being kept safe and taken care of. Your husband is in the direct line of fire too, as far as I’m concerned. I hope he stays safe as well!
Doris Von S thank you i appreciate the kind words. it is just so stressful this damn virus is tearing everyone apart, not just physically through sickness but mentally
Sarah I agree. And I agree if people would just stay the heck home we would get through this quicker!
I get it, people have to get food but they need plan it out so they don’t have to go every other day.
Be safe, we got this!
I honestly don’t know what procedures have been implemented since I have been out. All I know is for 2 weeks straight we had walls of people in our store constantly…and no, we weren’t cleaning for the simple fact there was no time. We were doing our normal cleaning which is excellent anyway. Of course, I have been out 11 days, so I don’t know what has been implemented since. All I can say is we had WAY too many people in our stores
Sarah Jade thank you finally someone that sees my point of what I was trying to say stay safe same for your husband please thank him for me !!
Lena Pascale this is where your grandfather goes.
Patricia
Pamela Lipuma Childers haven’t been there in a few months.

Someone I know said that on their stat earlier, but I didn’t know how true. Ugh.
Allen E. Burch
Angie Lacerda I have been wearing a mask and rubber gloves there the last 2 times have been there
Limit customers in , masks for all employees period , keep all safe , this wont end well
And where exactly are they supposed to get those masks? Hospitals and governments can’t get them
JoAnn Novicsky
Lorraine Ricci Jensen
Heather Ann I’ll stay out of there. It’s always crowded and the aisles are impossible to navigate without bumping into someone.
Lorraine Ricci Jensen, that place is a shit show on a good day. I can’t imagine what it’d be like now! Lol

They are letting co workers know so they can self quarantine. What about letting customers know when and where in the store so we can do the same
Yes what day they went for test.
Donna Collings they didn’t let all staff know – some found out through this article. So ????????♀️
Marisa Stachelski ???? sad
Donna Collings very sad and concerning. All staff should have been notified right away. Terrible protocol
Erika Michelle
The people working in supermarkets rn need hazard pay!
Cheryl Price absolutely
Cheryl Price they get $2 more an hour not enough
Cheryl Price people working in the hospital need it! We are frontline people! I’m currently on a covid unit!
I do instacart, shop in all these stores and deliver it. We dont get extra pay. Its bullshit. Any company who needs us needs to pay more
Julie Platt yes of course you do
Julie Platt I agree I can’t imagine what u go thru on a daily basis, nurses are angels in disguise, god bless you and all the workers
Denise Van Houten-Cena no not enough
Cheryl Price my daughter works for shoprite they gave the employee’s a 3 dollar an hour raise

I think all employees should have to be fever free and all these ppl dont need to be in the store the stores are always packed
When are they going to protect themselves, their employees, families and customers, shut down and higher cleaning companies
Chris Winn
Sheli Helm Disher I’d have to be completely out of food to venture out to the Manchester SR, lol.
Rose Karmazyn Brown Michael Brown
Not going there any time soon!
I don’t understand why all the news outlets are hating on Shoprite. Absolutely every single store that everyone has been going to has employees that have had, have, or will have the virus.
Pasquale Ferro
Carine Nebesky yes I know. Received the phone call this morning!
Carine Nebesky thank for thinking of me though! ????

Jessica Lynn Boccelli just a little. I have to go out tomorrow and I really dont want to. Lakehurst has 3 cases

Suzanne
Suzanne
Ruth Krajewski
Matt Krajewski was just a matter of time
People are going to continue to get it the more the people are out
Diana Reess
Because no one will stay home
Susan Reynolds I would like to agree, but even if everyone only made one essential trip every 14 days it would still be too many in the grocery stores at once. Toms River has approx 68,000 shopping aged individuals, and even if you split it up evenly there would still be approx 5,000 people making their one essential trip each day.
Grocery stores need to be better regulated because they are the primary “gathering” spot that is left regardless of attempts to social distance.
Every store you go to someone will eventually have it.
Melinda Quinn
Waiting for someone to say it’s Lakewood’s fault
Roman Kupershteyn it is
Alan Munger I agree, I also put all the worlds problem on Lakewood
Roman Kupershteyn agreed and Governor Murphy
Build a wall around Lakewood and don’t let them out. Murphy is letting convicts OUT of jail instead of putting them in. This community is criminal! When our police officers get this virus and bring it home to their families, it’s NOT acceptable! DO SOMETHING about the repetitious offenders. Stop with the little slap on the hand. U know damn well they will NOT pay your stupid little fines. Their GATHERINGS r breaking the law and killing people.
Alan Munger completely Agree on that one
It’s you mentality that those in Lakewood are incapable of understanding the situation we are in.
Eda Maioriello Arcuri I’m sure the rest of the United States and world feel the same
It’s all elderly people there
Fucking great
If you knew someone was there shopping today would you let them know??
Jamie Jasinski

Nikki Kaitlyn
Chris John I saw ???? little scared now ???? deff won’t be food shopping anytime soon
Judy Lester
Lauren Casey not going there no more! Ugh
Can someone please tell me if it was safe to shop there today please
Sharon Mary Wade I’m sure it was safe as the person has been removed from the store and the store was scrubbed down where most people touch such as carts, handles of doors etc. So yes you were safe today
probably the safest time to be there was today after they cleaned it.
Jess Ssej ok thanks.
Janice Ramos ty
Sharon Mary Wade its safe to shop if you follow this protocol, You have to maintain 6ft distance from everyone, and decontaminate all of your items upon returning home. That means wiping down all of your groceries with lysol or cleaner(yes cans, wrappers, cereal boxes, ice cream containers, and disposing of the grocery bags in the trash. Properly disinfecting the counters properly washing your hands. Self checkouts are best. Remember anything you bring into your home must be decontaminated. Treat the entire world as though its a biohazard and treat everything and everyone as though they are contaminated with covid. Disinfect your mail, any packages, letters, items, check your shoes at the door. Don’t bring your purse into stores just travel with your credit card leave everything else in the car or home. Many people are walking around with covid asymptomatic and still spreading it.
Nicole Gili Thank you.
I completely agree with Nicole.
Stop allowing the herd of 969 people in the store at a time!! SOCIAL DISTANCING should be implemented in all food stores! I know some are doing it now but not all!! Thank God I don’t go to this store.
David Lavacca
Tracey Jordan what not my store

Mary Hunter is this your store ?

Nicole Cicala ugh, I heard ????
These people need protective equipment like the hospitals… they are exposed to the sick and the carriers
Nabeel Khan
The problem is it takes 14 days before people know they have it so lord knows how many people are now infected. That store should be shut down for the 14 day quarantine period to protect all its employees. Does it suck…of coarse it does but Perlmutter owns numerous ShopRites so I think they will be fine.
Michele Prendimano Megill wishful thinking, this isn’t their only store with it either
Gayle Heinrich Cortes do you know what other stores had positive testing
Michele Prendimano Megill it’s also on Facebook, Toms River
Michele Prendimano Megill Fischer Blvd
If you think it’s just perlmutter stores I’m sorry. I can tell you there are alot more cases than anyone realizing. I can pretty much tell you if we were to test every person in every store every store would be closed
Dereck Davis obviously it is not just Perlmutter but they are the local store we are talking about and calling themselves family oriented, they can make the choice to go above CDC minimal requirements and bring in professional cleaning and sanitizing companies
Gayle Heinrich Cortes they do. I service the refrigeration in these stores along with many others and they are the cleanest out of them all. I service target bjs shoprite acme. Have serviced foodtowns whole foods trader Joe’s lidle walmart and a couple others and perlmutter shoprites have people cleaning around the clock. Before this even started. They have a company they pay during normal hours and another company they bring in at night
family works for both stores along with many friends and unless they just started that 2 days ago, you are wrong. They have the same group of people who come in to clean and wipe some surfaces, not true professional companies who do this for a living all geared in protective wear. Ask employees who’s cleaning and how it’s being handled on their opinion, not management making bonuses, every day pay check to pay check employees, they have no reason to lie about what is really being done. Let’s not forget this virus thrives in the cold, they should be taking extra care of those departments and aren’t.
Michele Prendimano Megill Fischer Blvd Shop Rite had an employee case last week.
Debbie Manziano Shead Joseph P. Shead ????
Mary Allison Roppoli Scary…Its been almost 2 wks since I last went. We decided last week we weren’t gonna take a chance…getting delivery…You guys stay safe

The public should know exactly what department these workers were at the time. What if that person was handling or breathing over all the produce or slicing cold cut meat in the deli! A prime example why Stop & Shop has now shut down their deli department .
Produce you can wash, I would not buy any deli products at this time, Maybe it is time to rethink everyone doing curbside pick at food stores. I know most are booked until at least mid April but, food for thought.
Washing only helps if the water temperature is above 77 degrees. (Or lots of foaming soap is used) The virus is encased in a fatty layer that is not affected by cold air or water. It will remain stuck to whatever it’s on unless warm water is used. Read this from a Harvard paper a couple of days ago.
It was bound to happen. All the customers that they come across. Prayers for them. ????????
What is really concerning is most staff weren’t even notified and had to find out through publications. ????????
Kenrick Nathu Tabatha Nathu
Faith Nathu Donna Weber Davenport ughh
I keep waiting to see actual regulations dropped for grocery stores.
Something like 25 people in at a time with a time limit (extended time limit for older or less able-bodies folks), or certain times of the day to shop by appointment to limit people, or a system to sign up for to distribute toilet paper etc where it doesn’t inspire 50-200 people “gathering” and waiting for the same thing, or a system by criteria like last name or something with hours for people without IDs etc.
It would be a good time to really convene minds and skills to come up with a responsible and effective system.
Why dont you all get your groceries delivered. Or pick them up. Shop at small local stores?
I check ShopRite online constantly. Every time slot for pick up or delivery is sold out when the new date is listed – over a week in advance. I refuse to go inside and shop there when the store is packed like there’s not a pandemic going on. Spaghetti for dinner again.
You need to find a different store to shop
Ughhhh
