After being alerted to a post in a public Facebook group called “Updates & Important News of Coronavirus COVID-19 At The Jersey Shore – NJ” about a line of cars heading to a school to pick up kids and touting it as proof of the schools still being open in Lakewood, NJ OCSN decided to investigate.
By watching the video several times, I was able to identify the location as being 1815 Swarthmore in Lakewood, NJ off of New Hampsire. Looking at Bing Maps of the location showed what looked like a warehouse style building, with a parking lot, 3 school buses, and a pool in the far back of the property. Business listings for this address showed it listed as “Torah Institute of Lakewood” or “Yeshiva Bais Hatorah” and it’s listed as a “Private Elementary and Secondary Schools business“
With this information in hand, I grabbed a couple cameras and hopped in my car and drove to the location. Now I didn’t get many stills with my good camera, because I was alone in the car, and so I had to be stopped to take images. I did pull some video from my dash-cam of me passing the location 3 times (please forgive the quality).
Now when I got there there weren’t nearly as many cars, but there were still a noticeable amount. But going by what I could see with my own eyes, the amount of time it took the line to move, and information we were able to find I have to say this was a food pickup location, and not a child pickup.
Same thing that happened at the blue claws last week. Still not fair for people that can’t find necessities and need them. Can anyone go there and get these supplies, food ?

Ocean County Scanner News All other towns in Ocean County are either delivering individually to students’ homes or bus stops or there is a drive-through pick up line at the school for parents and they cannot get out of their cars. Unlikely any other schools districts in the county where parents go inside the building to pick up meals due to social distancing.

There are many schools across the state being used as pickup spots for students to get lunch/local families to pick up food. Lakewood isn’t alone on that.

i’ve lived in lakewood for 35 years and as much as the nonsense we see annoys me like everyone else, they are in fact doing pick ups all over town. my son works for one of the restaurants providing food and they did 2,000 orders today alone. they do it everyday. and lkwd public schools are using buses to drop off lunches at every bus stop because the entire district is free lunch. they drop 2 of my kids’ breakfast and lunches every morning.
Must be nice to get free school, free bussing, free food, free from taxes and thanks to welfare and religious loopholes they take advantage of EVERY SINGLE ONE and even make up their own.
