Some New Jersey County Jail Inmates will start being released from jail as part of a way to try and curb the COVID-19 pandemic . State Attorney General Gurbir Grewal says some inmates who’s sentence is that of 1 year or less in county jail may be released as a way to help fight the spread of COVID-19 . Those inmates who are serving sentences for probation violations , municipal court sentences for crimes in 3rd & 4th degree , those who are serving time for disorderly conduct and similar offenses as well as possibly some dwi charges will be eligible .

Giving a pardon to those who broke the law does absolutely nothing to prevent the spread of the virus. All it does is put more people on the streets who more then likely have no place to go. They will be looting and sleeping in homeless shelters so how does that help the spread of the virus

David Stebner don’t talk about child support. 40 years ago I had a friend who could get 25 bucks a week from her bum ex and he was never put in prison. All the others you speak about got there for a reason and unfortunately they got caught. And I’m not a liar I was very young 13 and I unfortunately made bad decisions never got caught and never got hurt or hurt anyone else . But then you have to grow up. As an adult your held at a higher standard. A role model. Morals that hopefully we pass on to younger people.

If the law states that they should be there then they should be there. Its like people who say those that get caught with a small amount of weed shouldn’t be there. If you break the law you break the law.. The point of this post was that they felt it would be better to let inmates go and stop the spread of Corona. How do they know that? Your actually putting more people out on the streets to spread the virus. Those behind bars are safer there then they would be on the streets. Whats going to happen when they get out and there wont be any jobs for them. Whats going to happen when they wont be able to get the essentials to live? So now instead of paying to incarcerate them we will have to give them unemployment. Its bad enough that those who lost their jobs needing unemployment let alone those who are incarcerated now needing unemployment….

Because it’s hard to enforce 6ft of social isolation in a jail cell made for 2.
But people don’t want them released either. At least that’s what I’m seeing on this page. Why would you release someone who should be in jail?
But it would be tough for the virus to get in there as long as the correction Officers are following proper sanitary protocols. We also have to remember that now instead of paying for them to be incarcerated we now have to give them unemployment. There is also not any jobs to sustain them nor enough supplies to sustain them….
Lisa Mazzola its for non violent offenders and maybe if people did a little bit of research, its not a “get out of jail free” card, its only temporary so the jails are less crowded because again as stated above, it’s a little difficult to maintain the 6ft rule in an overcrowded jail. These offenders will have to go back to court once this is over for the judge to decide if they will go back to jail for the remaining part of their sentence or if they will get time served, depending on how much length was left on their sentence.
So as someone who has a stalker who has been in and out of jail for violating orders, I’m supposed to be ok with him being out to protect HIM against the virus???
