It never ends
Sad so sad
Shocker
I hope he or she makes it
Dam! So sad. Hope the person makes it and wants and gets help.
Nice that William Benkovich thinks this is funny. His profession is one where he may recieve a call for someone who overdosed & have to administer Narcan. Would you trust him with your loved one? I sure as hell wouldn’t.
Sharon Lynn Huber it could have been accidental. It’s also rare that the fire department is called for an overdose
He wouldn’t laugh if it was his loved one
Robyn Cherubini I was trying to hit the laughter face on another post and it just kept doing angry face over and over….needless to say I agree and hope it was an accident.
Sharon Lynn Huber so much hate for no reason. Maybe he laughed because he’s sick of the area that he loves being a cesspool for scum and drug addicts and it makes him laugh. It makes me laugh thinking about how stupid people are for doing this kind of stuff. It’s the people like everyone here who baby’s addicts that let them get away with what their doing.
Sharon Lynn Huber maybe he hit it by accident
Sharon Lynn Huber how absolutely terrible. Someone who responds with a laugh
Surely would not rush to save someone. Dirt bag
Shane Kennedy don’t be so quick to think it can’t happen to your family!
Annette Crawford Hall May have hot it by accident.
Soooooo many ASSumptions!
Shane Kennedy shut up idiot!
Debby Dally Lombard when did I say it couldn’t? I never said I agreed with him. But you have to see all perspectives before casting judgement. Nobody knows why he laughed. None of that defeats the point I made in saying, “‘Maybe he laughed because he’s sick of the area he loves being a cesspool for scum and drug addicts and it makes him laugh.” Yes, I said that stuff makes me laugh. And it does. I laugh because every single person in their lives had a choice to take these drugs and smoke those drugs, but only certain people decide to do it. I’m not going to baby someone who needs tough love to get through their thick, drug filled skulls. It’s just a fact.
Don’t do drugs and you won’t need anyone to call because you overdosed.
Shane Kennedy scum???? Then move???????? Calling PEOPLE scum, says a lot about you.☮️
Karen Ann Campbell grow up. You have a point of view that happens to be different from Shane’s but there’s no need for name calling
Debby Dally Lombard wtf? Yes. People who don’t do anything with their lives and don’t do anything to get better, are scum. Sorry that you don’t understand that some people are scum
Shane Kennedy watch what you say and how you say it. Would you really want to hear someone call your addicted family member scum? I know for a fact that you wouldn’t.
Robyn Cherubini I would call them scum
Robyn Cherubini if they don’t do anything to better themselves, then they’re scum.
Karen Ann Campbell sorry that you can’t handle the truth. People make a choice. I understand that after that it’s nearly impossible to kick, but they made that choice the first time. Everyone had that same choice. I don’t want to hear about, “I was in a bad place” or, “I felt like my life was going nowhere.” Those aren’t excuses. I’ve felt like that myself, but did I turn to heroin? Or meth? Or crack? No. I did what a functioning member of society does and pushed through it and didn’t turn to drugs. There’s no excuses. If a person an addict and they’re trying to get better, all the best to you. But if they’re an addict who od’s and then goes and uses the next day, what are you doing? People are killing themselves with these drugs and it’s always going to continue until we STOP BEING SO SOFT ON ADDICTS. Sorry that I have a reasonable outlook on drugs as opposed to just being happy that we have narcan to save these people. Narcan and mathadone are free all while insulin prices are being gouged. But people don’t care about the diabetic people who need their medicine, as long as the dopehead down the street will survive his latest overdose.
methadone£

Shane Kennedy hope one day you don’t ever call your child scum! Enough though your a asshole, I wouldn’t wish it on you. I’m done with you peace out☮️
????????
Because it’s nothing new , they OD and rescue comes and gives them narcan and it’s free , but those with a serious disease have to pay $$$ for their medicine. All because these people choice to get high knowing the chances , they will just do it again .
Cristy Poperowitz stop it. Your response is asinine.
Cristy Poperowitz trying blaming insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and deregulated healthcare for the outrageous cost for life-saving medical supplies, instead of people with other illnesses.
Cristy Poperowitz ????????????????
Krissy Plaza-Cicalese not an illness … it’s a choice…. they weren’t sick the first time they decided to put the needle in their arm.
Cristy Poperowitz so why hate the addict?i still don’t see your point…be mad at pharmaceutical companies
Danielle Fuchs and?so that gives U the right to sit on your fat ass and be a tw@t? Let me judge u…give it up hunni.your time has passed
Using drugs as a crutch or to cope with something doesn’t make it a disease!
For those of you that are saying you don’t know what their life has been like…. there are so many other options and turning to drugs….
and I know this because I’m speaking from experience!
Heroine is an endless battle…. you only win if you truly want help and you stick to it!
Quite honestly I hate to sound like a bitch but I’m getting really annoyed and sickened by Ocean County scanner constantly posting about overdosing
I don’t think it’s anyone’s business when this happens!
You only are getting people more pissed off!
Cristy Poperowitz oh fucking please. Ems police etc have to stabilize patient ya that is their job. No different then using
The paddles on someone who is having a heart
Attack.
Danielle Fuchs not all addicts do needles!! And they weren’t addicts the 1st time they took a pain pill for multiple surgeries and injuries. It IS a disease, it IS a chemical imbalance in your brain!! It comes to a point where it is no longer a choice. I am 1 of those people, I was addicted to pain pills after 7 spinal surgeries. I thankfully am one of the ones lucky enough to go into a facility with the right treatment to get off them. 5 years without that shit is great BUT I don’t judge those struggling with it!
Deborah McDermott
That’s how my friend got hooked she had multiple spinal surgeries and she went from pills to heroin and now she’s 6 feet under.
If I have any medical procedures I don’t even allow them to give me painkillers one I know what it does to my stomach and I can’t handle it and secondly I see how
Quickly it can turn from one pill to 5 ….
I honestly would love to see what would happen if there were funded programs or if there was some type of low cost insurance for these people to get help…
trust me I don’t want to see anyone die I’m not that type of person.
I am not a saint nor am i judging.
I’ve even tried helping multiple times my friends and it just gets to a point where If they won’t help themselves I can’t help them
Danielle Fuchs I agree, my sister in law passed away a couple years ago THE DAY AFTER coming out of rehab because her husband still had all the pills on the dresser. I wish that rehabs were available for everyone. The one thing I DO believe though is, a person only geys better if they choose to. You have to want to get better. I lost my marriage, my house, everything. And thankfully now I have a beautiful home, a good relationship with my ex-husband and my kids and a wonderful new husband.
Deborah McDermott
I’m glad things worked out for u honey!
Trust me I’m still trying to dig myself out of a hole!
If you’re a fighter and you have the will and strength to want better you will go up otherwise you’re stuck and that’s it!
You have to want it!
I am beyond blessed that I have a family that cares about me and have the means to help me!
I paid $13,000 to put myself through massage therapy school and unfortunately it wasn’t cutting it and I couldn’t be more thankful for my parents that are helping me go back to school for nursing now!
But I wanted better for myself!
I could only hope and pray that these people want it as much as I did!
My life wasn’t always that great but I asked for help… I was
Embarrassed to ask but I have an awesome support system!
“No looking back”
Annette Crawford Hall yea that’s not a choice sticking a fucking needle in your arm is a choice and knowing that you could possibly OD so yea don’t compare those who choice to destroy or kill themselves to those who can’t
Karen Ann Campbell it’s true! I been a diabetic since birth and there been times I lived with out insulin. This disease has caused me to have other chronic illnesses kidney disease heart disease just to name a few. I’ve done with it many medications at time because of no insurance while I worked three jobs to survive. These people may have a disease but there is free help out there for them certain police stations you can go to and they take you to a free rehab. Life is often about the choices you make! Everyone says auction is a disease not an conscious decision either to do or not do that drug the first time! We have free medical care for this disease. If it is indeed a disease then do what other people do for their diseases and get medical help when it’s free! I know many don’t like my way of thinking but I think this way Because of personal experiences.
Shea Graham I for one and mad at pharmaceutical companies for giving a safety net to drug users.
Deborah McDermott Would it be OK if I private messaged you to ask you about your battle if you don’t want to it’s totally OK but as somebody going into the nursing program I really am interested in hearing about what you went through
Danielle Fuchs absolutely
Shea Graham Fat ass? Did you see the gorgeous body on her?
I have sat back and watched all the hateful comments about an addict
Do you personally know or have someone in your family stricken by this disease?
Do you know there is a reason is starts? Do you know the pain and shame the addict feels within themselves? See.. I once was like you.. very uneducated and unaware of what it’s about
But I now am one who is personally affected by this awful disease and watch as my loved one feels so helpless by the take over it has on her
Just because our minds will never be like theirs do not judge until you have walked a day in their shoes
They are not worthless.. even though that’s how they feel inside
Educate yourself
That junky.. that everyone talks about is someone to somebody
May you never live this nightmare
Andrea Gormerley well said. Prayers for healing and recovery for you and the addict you love
Andrea Gormerley Statistics years ago showed more than half of Americans have an addict in the family, have one as friend or know one. I am sure it’s way higher now. Addiction touches all walks of life, and it’s all around us. Those who make horrible comments just don’t have empathy. They lack the capability to walk in someone else’s shoes, to imagine what is going on to cause that internal struggle of chaos within.
There are many reasons to imagine walking in someone else’s shoes. Like the saying, you never know what someone else is going through.
Trish Brophy thank you
Never did I ever believe I would learn first hand
And that’s why one says..
Never say Never
Andrea Gormerley yeah.. what you said times 50
Andrea Gormerley I have two brothers who are actively abusing drugs. One is on heroine. When he finally hit rock bottom and admitted he had a problem we stood by him and helped him daily with the withdraws which was so scary we thought he would die. No insurance so no facility would take him and they told us he would not die coming off heroine. It was a scary few weeks. Only for a year later him to start snorting opioid pills and back to heroine. He’s back in denial. Got to want help to get it. My second brother is hooked on snorting pills and heavy into crystal meth. He pulled a gun on my elderly parents, my father with stage 3 colon cancer for money. Police came he was put in a rehab facility and two hours later calling my step mother to pick him up. He’s lying saying he stopped but he’s always hallucinating. Tried to get him to agree to go back into rehab and he refused. Everyone in my family. He just becomes more bitter and more angry. Addiction is serious. The abuser has to really hit rock bottom and want help. Our family is always there trying but not with much success. Tried rehab that failed. Even living through it you love these two brothers and you want to make everything right but you can’t change or help unless they want it and I’m talking from experience. I come from a long line of Alcoholics who never hit the bottom even after my mother lost all of her kids. I grew up petrified to drink a drink at dinner. I make hat choice and I make the choice not to do drugs.
Andrea Gormerley it’s not a disease it’s choice
Andrea Gormerley it’s an addiction what’s a choice, it’s not a disease.
Trish Brophy I can understand your point of view and I’ve watched it several times.I’ve buried many friends and it breaks my heart.
And I can be open and honest and say that I have fucked up when I was a dancer (not heroine)
But I was able to get my shit together And know that I wanted better in life and I went and paid to put myself through school and now I put my letter of intent in for The nursing program (it took me ten years to try again)
I couldn’t imagine what it feels to be hooked on a drug like that but at the same time there is help out there for them and they’re just are not asking for it nor do they ultimately want it and it’s sad!
Unfortunately heroin addicts don’t really care about anyone else but themselves and their next fix.
I pray that if your loved one is better than what they’re doing that they get the help they need and turn around and don’t go back
Danielle Fuchs
Darlene Asay bull shit! Gain some knowledge before commenting
Shea Graham not sure what that means but ????
Andrea Gormerley Shea Graham ??? Nothing ???
Darlene Asay you’re right at first until it turns into a disease
How many addicted started at 18?
Children start and the help they offer children is not provided as you think
Do you know there are 2 facilities in NJ for residential treatment? Did you know that one is ready to close!
Do you know what a mental illness is??? Do you know how when there isn’t the help a child needs.. he or she turns to drugs
Do you really know!!!
Do me a favor when you know what you really are talking about and god help you your CHILD Don’t have to face this
See my child is suffering and I have tried for 4 years to get the mental help
And I begged courts.. Councilors.. schools
I have done above and beyond and no one listened that someday I would worry about the addiction would come and guess what
I’m faced with it
So please keep your ignorant, uneducated comments to yourself and maybe see the reason why one chooses a drug that leads to a disease in the first damn place
I pray for people like you
Andrea Gormerley y d unfortunately I have felt and am still dealing with family members that are and were addicts there is plenty of help if you want it
Andrea Gormerley yes i have been touched personally and even if its a disease….THE FIRST TIME WAS BY CHOICE!
it most certainly is a choice.and have never been addicted myself.that doesn’t mean i need to comment on every overdose about how self righteous I am.but half of you have made bad choices.most of you saying it’s a choice are overweight.do you know that food is an addiction too?which is also a choice.should the emt not treat you when you go into cardiac arrest because of your sloppy diets?get off your high horses and stop acting like a bunch of couch warriors.
Lol dont od around me I refuse to get narcan take that shit somewhere else I blame participation trophies.
Gabe Kelly terrible thing
To say.
Gabe Kelly you blame something that’s been trending for a couple decades for something that’s been going on, suffice it to say, waaay longer.
That’s one way of displaying your stupidity, but I’m sure there’s way more where that came from ????♀️
Nooo I’ve dealt with that lifestyle for many years actually and I say the same keep that shit out of my life u od around me I dont have narcan u od I’ll call 911 and drag u to the street for them to arrive, and they will never be allowed to come to my house again. Tuff love folks darwinism at it’s best and totally believe in the three strike policy then your out.
Must be so lucky to have not lived with an addict. Wheather a sister, brother, husband, wife etc ..not a joke. They need help just like alcoholics do.
Lynette Wright Hennelly actually I do have family that are and guess what that’s not my problem sry
Cristy Poperowitz good thing you’re perfect. Your kids will be, too, and you’ll never have to deal with anything like this ????????????
Steph VanPelt saying these were the people in my life affected.
Steph VanPelt actually I have , my cousin and other family friends and I have friends die from it . I’m far from perfect but won’t catch me putting a needle in my arm , sry my life is more important then that
What’s funny is you see these people receiving narcan Over and over again and it seems to be all over south jersey
All the people that are commenting about what if it was one of your loved ones how would you feel my question to you guys who are offended
If it was your loved one why are you not helping them get the care they need in fighting the addiction
Your tax dollars pay for the narcan but that doesn’t bother you
You have people being price gouged for insulin and you stand idly by
AND before you say Rico you don’t know what it’s like I experienced this in my life
Rico Alëxænder you say “THESE PEOPLE” and over and over again
Do you administer narcan or have ANY experience whatsoever that would make you privy to the knowledge of how many times an Individual received narcan? Or is this just your opinion wrapped in a guess?
No I don’t administer narcan. Why should my tax dollars pay for something that clearly being abused
You know it and I know it
Addicts use get narcan and now that they know narcan will bring them back they eventually do it again
The fact that your concern is about me administering narcan vs the other reasons is concerning
Personally two and out if you need narcan twice and refuse to not get the help you need then we’ll roll of the dice on the third time
Rico Alëxænder dumbass, many of these people have successfully helped their loved ones. Waste of a comment really showed your lack of intelligence. You will always see struggling addicts, that doesn’t take away from the countless families that have been there for those people in their lives. Don’t bother responding to this comment because I won’t be bothering to read it. Your mentality does not have the capacity for this and so I won’t waste my time.
Kenneth Gregg you’re an idiot too it’s ok
Rico Alëxænder there was a lady in Keansburg that recieved narcan three times in one day!
exactly my point as long as it’s available they will continue to abuse it and not receive the help they need
Rico Alëxænder where? Where are people receiving Narcan over and over? Who? Where?
Normally the addict Karen ????
Rico Alëxænder can’t help those that don’t want it my dad did it for yrs for my cousin , I gave up .
Cristy but… when is it enough enough?
Do we continue to help when it’s not needed/wanted or wait when the inevitable happens say… I wish we could have done more. I should have stepped in when it first started. I saw the signs.
Rico Alëxænder when they feel it’s enough .
Cristy Poperowitz such a shame really
Rico Alëxænder it is
Rico Alëxænder but it’s their choice
addiction is not a choice
It’s a life sentence.
Even in recovery you walk a thin line
I’m all for the narcan.
If it saves a life
It could be someone we love
Pass no judgment on a addict
Until you know the whole story.
Terry Hanlon Hills addiction is a choice, nobody forced then to do drugs and keep doing it.
Rico Alëxænder how do you know it’s the same person over and over again.
I am sure they are not injecting to OD on purpose thinking the paramedics will come save them.
Again it’s the paramedics job to stabilize any patient.
Rico Alëxænder yes that’s why they do drugs???? How do you even know how many times it’s the same person?? Nothing is FREE!!
Rico Alëxænder your just another trog
Karen right I just don’t care for addicted that won’t get help and refuse it
Rico Alëxænder you’re asking people why they aren’t doing something, but you actually have no idea who is or isn’t doing what. Oooookay
It’s sad when young and old are dying because they cannot afford insulin for diabetes, yet narcon and Methadone are free????
Because apparently shooting up heroin is a disease and diabetes is not…oh wait….diabetes IS a real disease, not a choice.
If the cops pick you up wandering around wasted on heroin and trying to buy heroin it’s basically a $40 fine and a $60 fine… That’s absolutely nothing..
Christopher Popeye Nichols no it’s not, $40 bucks????
Debby Dally Lombard yes it is..just watched it.
Watch the woman in their last week she had to pay $40 for some DNA swab and I believe it was 60 or $80 fine… They found fentanyl in her system and everything
If it comes down to the argument of weather or not it’s a CHOICE, which seems to be the sentiment of a lot of people here. Think about this.
The high from heroin or any injected narcotic is incredibly intense but also incredibly short, thus creating the addiction almost from the start. People talk about choices and treatment for heroin addiction meds being free vs chemo/diabetes meds being priced sky-high and unattainable for some people. I see FIRSTHAND the tragic aftermath of the effects of heroin overdoses and see all the EMT supplied “free” narcan vials all over the floor. Each case is a tragic end to a family members life.
The argument COULD be made where someone could say “I didn’t CHOOSE to get cancer or leukemia. Yet the addict CHOOSES to pick up the needle, lighter and spoon the first time, makes that CONSCIOUS DECISION to get high knowing FULL WELL the possible consequences and thinks “it’ll never happen to me!” Let’s agree that NO ONE would ever WILLINGLY pick up and smoke a joint or shoot up a syringe labeled “CANCER”.
There cannot be an argument comparing addiction vs cancer or diabetes. Metabolic disorders occur due to many circumstances, heredity being the biggest factor. A healthy baby born today will NOT have a choice regarding genetic predispositions to cancer or disease of any type. If that baby is NEVER exposed to the evils of drug abuse and leads a life free of chemical dependency, is EDUCATED early about avoidance and maybe even how to help a family or friend OUT of addiction, then the argument is one where addiction is NOT a disease but a CHOICE! The FIRST shot of heroin, that CONSCIOUS CHOICE to get high and hooked…IS someone MAKING that CHOICE! The money spent on narcan or methotrexate are two completely different discussions.
The bottom line is, everyone deserves compassion and love. Those who fall prey to the demons and evils of addiction need it just as much as cancer patients. We all go down our own roads. Let’s be civil and try to understand EACH battle is unique and every family who is in that fight on either side, fights and struggles and suffers every day. God Bless all of us!
Just say a prayer for them and move on people. Smh
I feel bad for the family I know what it feels like holding your breath every time the phone rings And knowing that one day it’s going to be the worst news possible
