The Freehold Township Police arrested Juan Manuel Gonzales-Rodrigues, 35 years old, from Spain and Gustavo Acunas-Fica, 22 years old, from Argentina. Both of the subjects have no fixed address and are homeless.

On Saturday February 15, 2020 at 6:52pm the Freehold Township Police received a call from a resident on Rillstone Court about a burglary in progress. The resident of the home reported hearing the rear sliding door glass break and the sound of a man’s voice. The resident was able to flee the home and contact police. The resident was the sole occupant of the home at the time of the incident. Upon police arrival, officers observed a shattered rear sliding door and then quickly made entry into the home. Upon hearing noises and the sounds of banging furniture from the upstairs floor, police made contact with two male subjects later identified as the Juan Manuel Gonzales-Rodriguez and Gustavo Acunas-Fica. Both of these individuals were placed under arrest and the home was secured.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the resident was alone at the time of the incident in an upstairs room. The resident heard a buzzing noise from the broken doorbell followed shortly after by knocking on the rear sliding door. The resident had muted the television when the sound of the glass from the rear sliding door was shattered. The resident was able leave the residence undetected and contact police. Investigation at the scene revealed that both subjects were in possession of backpacks and were in possession of jewelry belonging to the resident.

Juan Manuel Gonzales-Rodrigues and Gustavo Acunas-Fica were charged with Burglary, theft, Possession of burglary tools, and Criminal Mischief. Both individuals were lodged in the Monmouth County Jail pending a bail retention hearing.
