BRICK – Two men are facing serious charges after they allegedly broke into a township home armed with a handgun.

Brick Township Police Sergeant James Kelly confirmed the arrests of 18-year-old David Lavroff of Toms River and 18-year-old James Clark of Brick in the February 13 incident.

Police said they were called to the Wilson Court home around 4 p.m. for a report of a man wearing a ski mask, armed with a handgun, attempting to enter a home. The homeowner told police that when he confronted the suspect, he ran towards a vehicle and entered the passenger side. The car then sped away but the homeowner was able to give police a full description of the vehicle.

Police said that the investigation revealed the suspects attempted to rob a 16-year-old male that lived at the home.

Late Thursday, police located the vehicle parked outside a Point Pleasant Borough home. With assistance of Point Pleasant Borough Police and the Brick Township’s Police Street Crimes Unit, they identified the suspects and arrested them on site.

Lavroff was charged with Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose while Clark was charged with Robbery and his vehicle was seized.

Both are currently being held in the Ocean County Jail.
