A 38 year old man from Newark was struck while attempting to cross from the eastbound lane of Route 33 and Woodward Road outside of the marked crosswalk at approximately 7:22pm on Wednesday February 12th, 2020. The Victim was struck by a 2017 Toyota Rav 4, driven by a 32 year old Neptune resident traveling eastbound on Route 33. The victim was then struck by a 2nd vehicle, a 2017 Lexus RX, driven by a 54 year old East Windows resident that was traveling eastbound behind the Rav 4.
The male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 3:37pm as a result of the collision.
Both drivers were uninjured in the crash and the crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Marlboro Township Police Department and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).
