PRESS RELEASE-TEACHER CHARGED WITH ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on February 13, 2020, Joshua Eckersley, 33, of Berkeley Township, was arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2) and Lewdness in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-4a.
An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit revealed that on Sunday, January 12, 2020, Eckersley, a teacher in the Central Regional School District, performed an indecent act in the presence of a minor student while on school property. The investigation was initiated after the minor victim disclosed the incident to authorities.
Eckersley was surrendered by his attorney this afternoon. Eckersley was processed and released pending a future court date.
“I’d like to commend the Central Regional Board of Education and Dr. Triantafillos Parlapanides, Superintendent, for their patience and cooperation in our criminal investigation of Mr. Eckersley,” Prosecutor Billhimer stated.
The public and media are reminded that all defendants are innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Carol Small there are a lot of rumors swirling around. According to my friend, who is a police officer, he was naked in the girls locker room during basketball practice on a weekend. A girl entered the locker room and he was reported. According to the article it happened a few weekends ago. I guess that has allowed time for the rumors to say he was showering with the girls. I don’t think he physically did anything to anyone. But still, if I was in 7th/8th grade and entered the locker room to find my naked math teacher, I’d be freaked out. The superintendent put out a statement which lead me to believe he didn’t physically harm anyone. Incidents like this sometimes leads to other accusations though.

In my opinion a nude teacher in a locker room is indecent. Maybe someone on here knows if there is a legal difference.
