JACKSON – It seemed as though a man was so hungry, he needed to break into someone’s home and steal their food.
A 46-year-old man has been arrested for burglary. In the early hours of the morning, police responded to call about a possible break-in on Danbury Court in the Four Seasons at Metedeconk development. The resident stated that he woke up due to his dog barking. Lights were on in his house that were not left on the night before, and the front window was smashed in.
When officers arrived, they had found the kitchen had food touched and left out. It was concluded that the unknown intruder had raided the refrigerator and ate some of the food. Officers also stated that the window was broken from the inside, confirming that the intruder broke the window upon exiting the home. Nothing else was stolen from the property, but both of the victim’s cars were broken into.
A K-9 from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department was brought to the scene to seek out the suspect, but he was not found.
Officers then checked the neighbor to find that several mailboxes were opened and examined. Video footage from another resident’s home showed the possible suspect. It was also detected that the suspect made an attempt to enter the community’s clubhouse.
Later on, at around 2 p.m. officers received a call about a suspicious individual. A man was found on the ground by a pole on Harmony Road. The man had fit the description of the suspect from the earlier break-in scene and was immediately arrested. The man was later interviewed and resulted in taking on charges from the incident.
Joseph DeRenzo was charged with 3 counts of burglary and 1 count of attempted burglary. He was processed and is now lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

Maybe they can buy the poor guy some food
Paul Yager I know. It’s kind of sad that he was that desperate for food ????
Yeah it’s actually sad. The man wanted food, not money for drugs. Or Jewelry to steal for the food or drugs. Just food to eat..
Paul Yager so now we’re supposed to reward people for crimes because they just needed something they didn’t have and decided to steal it???
Update.. B&E victim Dies from food poisoning
Wong Wu’s Chinese food closed a couple years ago ????
Food poisoning?
He’ll get fed in jail. .
So sad , but maybe now he might get help, all you making fun I pray you don’t go hungry or homeless have a little compassion.
Let me guess you pat junkies on the back for OD’ing too because they just need compassion…So here we go with another person who thinks we just reward a person for committing a crime, because they just need something they don’t have…..When the hell did we turn criminals into people who just need something and he given it…..and now narcanning the shit out of junkies and sending them on their way with no consequences…what’s next, turning burglary into a disease too because people need something they don’t want to work for? SMH
Patrick Brennan no pat I don’t think that but some people become homeless or just lost. I don’t think you should make fun. He only stole food take time to think about that ,how bad was it that he broke in to steal food. I thought it was sad that he had to do it. Remember karma is listing.
Daniella Lund there are food banks. Don’t excuse criminal behavior. If I caught him in my house, eating food I worked for to feed my family, he’d be trying to eat through a broken jaw. Or worse.
Daniella Lund dumb. A good way to get shot.
Patrick Brennan I see your point, I think Daniella Lund is a compassionate person who sees it from the human angle. I agree that people are way too quick to label things a “disease” or create a “socially acceptable excuse” that somehow lessens the blow of a crime that’s committed! I Personally have ZERO pity or compassion for drunk drivers. I sure as hell am not going to make excuses or attempt to ban alcohol for ALL because ONE person disregarded human lives by taking the wheel when they’re .25 on the BAC! The guys hungry, he commits a crime and terrorizes the people who own and worked for everything in that home, he needs to be punished and people want their peace of mind back!
Daniella Lund I totally see your angle…however breaking and entering and terrorizing an innocent , hard working family cannot be excused for lack of a meal. I see your a compassionate human being but there were other ways to get himself a meal no questions asked.
Jason Forbey in NJ you’ll goto jail for that.

Go ahead. Raid mine. ????
He would’ve starved if he broke into my house I need to food shop
I mean… if he cooked for everyone I wouldn’t even be mad.
