Please share and keep an eye out for my mother’s Cheryl Rosa lost dog, escaped from vet around 11am this morning, last seen near Hobby Lobby on Route 9. Update: Vet has called off the search until the morning, saying they’re doing everything they can…cops at the vet with my mother now so hoping for better.

Ocean County Scanner News The owner’s son posted a video on another post that shows the dog bolting across the reception area and then pushing its way out the front door. When I madr a comment that it was a shame that the door opened outward, someone, likely an employee, commented that she was told the door opened that way due to fire code. My next thought is, why isn’t there a barrier between the backroom treatment/kennel areas and the front reception area? Or, why wouldn’t the owner put in a double door system at the front door (even most groom shops have a double entry system in case a dog gets loose inside). The same person later made a post stating that if the business had an audio component to its camera system, then it would have shown the 150 lb Dane growling at an employee who instinctively stepped back from the kennel opening in fear. I guess that must be how the dog got loose from the back room area.
Rusty Rudder why are people always so quick to judge and blame without knowing any of the story? (Especially when it has to do with a dog)Vets and vet office employees usually have love and compassion for animals or else they wouldnt seek this kind of employment. If it was like the 2nd or 3rd time it happened I could understand the judgmental remarks and the intense questioning, but this is clearly a freak mishap.Like do you really think think the vet “called off the search” ??? I pray this pup is found. Remember there are alot of woods towards jackson on that side. Powerlines, creek easy for a pup to hide. Make left out of vet parking lot, go to stop sign make a left woods are down behind house about 1/2 mile. I can imagine this pup making it to Jackson in fear.

How awful. Can’t believe the vet called off the search. The wonderful vet we go to would be out looking all night right with the family…hope they find her.

They should be sued and billed by whatever agencies including the police, who are out searching for this dog. Meanwhile negligent vet and staff cozy in their warm beds while dog is out in the elements and traffic? SHAMEFUL!
No matter what the circumstances were. No vet should lose an animal in their care. I would have every K9 search and rescue out and every bill would go to that vet office for payment. Those poor parents of that lost baby. I would be beside myself

Annette Crawford Hall I understand what you are saying but when you drop your dog off to be spayed and chipped you do so with the intention the Vet will secure and keep safe your dog. It is a Great Dane not a toy poodle. Not sure how a Great Dane just happens to get loose in a Vets office run around and out a door ????♀️

Annette Crawford Hall I understand things can happen but with that said the vet never should have called off the search and done everything in their power to find the pup that was left in their care. Whether that was hiring outside help as others suggested or being out there in the night with all the others who continued to search.
Ocean County Scanner News Plus, I think the owner’s son implied in a comment on another post that the owner was not informed right away when the dog got loose. People spotted the dog along route 9. Had the owner been able to get there earlier, she would have had the best chance of luring the dog while it was still being spotted.
Accidents do happen, but inform an owner immediately. Although, I still cannot understand how a dog gets out of a backroom area. Safeguards should be in place.

Sharon Lynn Huber what circumstances would you like to know? I, a complete stranger, was out most of yesterday well into the night and again this morning searching for this dog while the Vet went home to have dinner and sleep in a warm bed so by all means tell me what you would like to know about this situation. I can tell you that at 7:30 last night the Vet said that they had done all they could and were ending their search. IMO “doing all that they could” would have involved finding the dog or continuing to search until she was found.

UPDATE 1/17 8:45 AM: Good morning all. I ask that if you have a Stormie sighting today. Please do not chase her but call me at 908-240-8257. She must be very scared and only needs her Mama. Please don’t come looking for her. I know you all want to help and I love you and your outpouring of love for my baby. I waited at the vet in hopes that she’d return until 2 am. If you hear of a sighting on here, please don’t show up. Too many people isn’t a good thing. Although you think it would be. Prayers for my Storm please. I need her back.
