Legislation being branded as “drivers licenses for all” passed both houses of the legislature today, as the Assembly voted 42-30, and the Senate voted 21-17, to pass bill A4743/S3229, which would allow residents unable to prove lawful presence in US to receive drivers permits and licenses.
All drivers license applicants would be required to provide satisfactory proof of identity and age, and one document providing proof of residency, equal to the same 6 points as currently required.
The bill now heads to the governor’s desk.

Do you know how insurance works? If said illegals get into enough accidents that the insurance has to pay out, sure you will get your car paid for but, eventually EVERYONE’S rates increase due to poor driving by others in the state.

I got into a hit and run and my insurance went up because I got rear ended.
I got rear ended and the other kids insurance was bare minimum for the state. A whopping $5000 max pay out. My insurance went up to cover the other $8500 in damages to my car.

This will allow them to pay for car insurance, something they’re unable to do now, because you need to have a license.
In no way does this, or any other bill to allow undocumented licenses allow one of these people to vote. A person is not automatically registered to vote if they are –ineligible to vote–.

As a practical matter, not having a license or the proper insurance doesn’t seem to stop anyone from driving. I’m for making sure that everyone driving in this state has both a license and the necessary insurance so the next time someone hits me and totals my car I’ll actually collect from the driver’s insurance. I went through a period when I was hit three times in a fairly brief period of time (two totals and one significant damage).. All three drivers were Americans but two out of three had bogus insurance and apparently suffered NO consequences for this. So I want EVERYONE licensed and insured.

This bill is riddled with flaws. There is absolutely NOTHING in place to prevent illegal immigrants from voting in our election. This is completely unacceptable. It is at the discretion of the person holding the license on whether or not they vote or not. Voting facilities are not required to verify. That is the mentality of the Democrat mind. They seem to forget that their first duty as an elected official is to protect its citizens. Let’s not even start on the security aspect of this. DHS is extremely concerned of its repercussions. It’s not a matter of IF something happens, it’s a matter of WHEN

Dave Frick I know. That needs to change and there needs to be a national voter registration policy, not just by state. These states that are enforcing this were all Democratic states. There is a pattern here.
