Lacey: PD responded to the 1700 Block of Whitcomb for an Unconscious turned DOA. Dispatch advised this was a possible heroin overdose, where the subject was turning blue and was unresponsive. Later medics responded and called it a pronouncement, meaning DOA. Usual agencies will be requested to respond to investigate.
Just sad …
Barbara Somes not really. Just bad life choices
It’s very sad for the family
Bry Pino I agree and they chose to put that needle in there arm , cancer patients don’t chose to get cancer. I hate when people say “it’s a disease “ bullshit it’s not .. just people say that for others to feel better to say he or she has a disease they can’t help it… sure they can many don’t want help or go right back ..but I also agree it is a sad time for there family’s losing a loved one..
Aj Mogavero exactly
Carol Ann agree .
Aj Mogavero I’m definitely not here to argue. I have reservations about calling it a disease as well. However, I had a family member who was an alcoholic for 13 years. He finally became sober and it has been 6 years since. The addict doesn’t care what it’s called, they don’t really care who they hurt, that drug takes over. There is definitely some type of chemical imbalance in your brain, so it is definitely something that is like a disease. It is hereditary as well, his dad and brother were both addicts. It’s very hard for them, they don’t just wake up one day and say “hey I’m going to be an addict today.” Almost always they have had some type of trauma or ptsd that led them down that path. My family member had severe ptsd and trauma from something that happened when he was younger and it led him here. Thank God he got sober. It took for him to pass out, hit his head and almost die for him to see the light. He was found on stoops passed out at bars, he would sell things to get the money to buy the booze, lie and put himself in other dangerous situations. I’m not excusing any of their behavior but whatever their mental illness is, is what got them there in the first place. It’s their coping mechanism. I do hope you dont ever have to deal with that in your family. It’s very sad.
Pattie Guglielmi-Agosto I can relate my dad is clean from drinking 20+ years him arguing with my mom stabbing knives into the wall and stuff scarred me for life. It clearly hits home but I’m stilll here to say it’s not a disease I lost family to pill and drugs, I see what you mean but they CHOSE TO try it They chose that. If the drug takes over after awhile that’s the drug it’s not a disease I think we need a new name for it that’s all .
Bry Pino it’s still very sad! And yes it’s a choice but that doesn’t make it any less sad. No one sets out to be an addict or alcoholic. Addiction is a beast that’s hard to control! Getting help and having more facilities to help is a solution.
Barbara Somes yes it is very sad
Michael Hayes Moore agreed and your absolutely right,Addition is a sick thing.
Aj Mogavero an argument could be made that a 3 pack a day smoker chose to get lung cancer.
Aj Mogavero I’ve had my battles, not with heroin but other things. Everyone turned their backs on me but it was up to me to get help. I’m blessed it wasn’t too late and I got the help I needed. 11 years sober this Feb.
Michael Hayes Moore that’s awesome glad to hear that keep it up you got this ????????????????
Aj Mogavero well , smoking , over eating , drinking alcohol, not exercising, eating all bad foods. All leads to cancer , heart disease , diabetes ect. All from bad choices. Once they have these diseases it needs to be treated or will lead to death.
They still have a disease brought on by bad choices.
Drug addiction 90% of cases was brought on by a need to take opioids pain meds that are highly addictive. Opioids are proven to change the brain making it a disease.
Your post is not only out of ignorance it’s judge mental.
If you choose to post something as such educate yourself or don’t speak on what you know noting about
Aj Mogavero thanks bro! People need to be more kind to one another. Social media could be an amazing tool if used properly.
Aj Mogavero I def agree, but once they chose, it’s no longer a choice, it becomes a necessity for them and they become selfish. I think changing it to a health condition or something else would benefit the addict. They would no longer be able to use it as an excuse. My brother-in-law was the addict and he would say to me, “I have a disease, I cant stop”, but then he stopped. That’s one reason why it should be labeled as something else, just to help them. I get your point. It’s just getting so bad and it’s just so sad for families. Have an awesome Holiday!
Aj Mogavero I also agree it isn’t a disease like some say. I went through and eventually became the assistant director at Teen Challenge CT. I can say one fact, Jesus is the proven cure for the drug epidemic.
Bry Pino and you are who to say?
Aj Mogavero didn’t matter what a regular person says. Medical facts and mental health professionals with tons of research and federal backing. Has addiction as a disease. They’re kinda the final word on it
Scott A Barnes you mean those that benefit from classifying it as a disease? Ask any addict in recovery or active addiction. The large majority do not agree that it is a disease and started as a conscious decision. Addiction is a big business cash cow. Addict the population and profit.. Classify it as a disease, treat the population and profit. Not rocket science
Scott A Barnes that’s fine whatever THEY THINK, just because it becomes a wide spread thing they tend to change stuff… Back before 1990 was it a disease!? no it wasn’t it’s the newer generation causing these issues to them self’s. It’s not a disease in my book if you wanna think that so be it . ????????♂️
Brandon Ebbs I agree with this statement. I would never sit in a meeting and say, “hi my name is Mike and I’m an alcoholic or addict.” I would say I’m recovered! I’ve been redeemed by the most high God and my life has been truly transformed. I do think genetically some people are more prone for addiction.
I posted this picture to give others hope. Before 2009 I went on a crazy run full of the craziest most outlandish stories. My life was a mess and I really thought there was no hope because of the amount of trouble I was in. I decided on Feb. 25, 2009 to leave NJ and go through a CHRIST centered program Teen Challenge CT. It was a very long program 15-21 months but truly saved my life. I stayed there as a staff member for many years to help others before going back to teaching. Only God can take a life that was in a horrible pit and transform it into something great. “Jesus is the proven cure for the drug epidemic.” -Rev. David Wilkinson
Cheryl Ann my type 1 was not from bad choices….its Hereditary in my family..i was 12 when i got diabetes almost died….again not always bad choices js
How fxkn sad. Never a good time but right around the holidays smfh. This poor family.
????
????????????
So so sad ???? my condolences to the family xoxo
Keep catching the dealers, make it difficult to be found. If you have a loved one who is an addict or heading in that direction, please try to get them the help they need. This is becoming a daily occurrence.
????????
M.E. Requested. Another one in a body bag for Christmas. When are we going to accept we have a problem and our elected officials have failed us? Vote these incumbents OUT in elections. Time for change- time for politicians who care about their constituents. Or we can do nothing, stay consumed in our personal lives, as more families are torn apart to addiction.
Ocean County Scanner News what would your plan of action be to tackle this problem? Who would you go after?
Laura Truszkowski
Let’s start with reform that holds dealers accountable. We have enough of a police power to combat this issue. There aren’t penalties today for crimes, it’s all a joke. Bail reform and other failed programs. It’s putting the same people back on streets to commit the same crimes. We need politicians who can show people there are consequences to their actions. Deal drugs and go to jail isn’t enough, it’s not enough of a threat. We need stiffer penalties for bad choices. What we are doing isn’t working, and our mental health issues aren’t being addressed.
There’s an underlying reason why NJ has such an opioid problem. I’m not here to address all the reasons people choose drugs over dealing with their issues like an adult.
Our job is just to point out current happenings in our communities. If I wanted to run for office, I’ll tell everyone here first.
Ocean County Scanner News or maybe scumbags should stop shooting heroin
Ocean County Scanner News I like what your saying. Now who’s attention do you need to grab? I don’t think politicians are looking at your page or maybe they are? How do you reach these elected people? Which ones can do something about this?
Laura Truszkowski legalize marijuana is step 1. Frees up resources to crack down on things that actually do harm.
Next, if you are arrested for heroin, you must cooperate with law enforcement to identify and “catch” the source. You don’t reveal the dealer, you don’t get bail. The issue is that the low level scumbags will get caught but the people running the show at the top are tied to our politicians. Simply put, on the macro level, the cartels fund a large amount of our influential politicians, so there is no incentive for them to do anything that would actually work, so they continue to come up with ways that give the illusion of addressing the problem.
Bry Pino sometimes good people make bad choices We have a lot of people who died and many more will die. Plastic bags are not our biggest problem
Ocean County Scanner News the war on drugs is a complete failure.
Laura Truszkowski
They see the truth on pages like this and others. They try to hide reality from the public. Encryption and other laws against freedom of the press keeping to hide the issues in society.
How many overdoses must we post to show it’s an epidemic. What we’re doing isn’t working. Time for new ideas.
Dave Meyer
Yes it is- we need drug reform yesterday.
Dean Booth
The truth hurts a lot of feelings.
Laura Truszkowski what is yours? Since you asked??
Ocean County Scanner News very true. There are millions of federal dollars spent yearly on destroying marijuana crop in the Emerald Triangle, now ask yourself why. Now why would out own government destroy a domestic cash crop, who financially benefits from this?
It all goes back into another issue, illegal immigration. The left wants to open the flood gates and give everyone coming over free stuff on our dime. The right wants to put up a wall and detain people. Neither side is willing to address the true root cause, or ask the obvious question. Why are people willing to risk imprisonment to flee Mexico?
If we really wanted to fix anything, we would have overthrown the corrupt Mexican government run by cartels long ago. Because as a politician on a $175k salary when you are offered a few million dollars to turn a blind eye to a situation, yo do it.
Dean Booth
It’s medicine for free for too many people. Cutting into drug makers pockets is crazy talk.
Laura Truszkowski An elected official in Lacey specifically used this crisis as a point in campaign propaganda. I’m unaware of any local ordinances that make a difference. ????????♂️
Dean Booth
We need a real political party that represents the true needs of society. Both Republicans and Democrats are out of touch.
Bry Pino
They should. What brought them to this low point in their life deserves knowing. People keep dying and we aren’t doing enough.
Scott A Barnes I’m not sure. That’s why i asked. Where do you begin?
Ocean County Scanner News AMEN
Medics arriving for formal pronouncement.
I can always count on the insensitive flat out mean posts on here when it comes to this topic. That’s someone‘a family member or close friend. The facts are that everyone is connected to someone who’s an addict whether you know it or not. BE NICE AND SHOW SOME RESPECT! IF YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING NICE OR CONSTRUCTIVE, DONT SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!!!
Addiction is a disease. Cancer is a disease. No one knows what this persons story is. We are not here to judge people . My thoughts and prayers for the family members left to grieve such a loss.
Pamela Pammie might stay inside today, don’t wanna walk outside and catch a case of the heroins.
Sergio DePinto interesting healthcare worker with such awesome views
Sergio DePinto and you dont get any disease walking outside
Sergio DePinto
Pamela Pammie and no creds whatsoever
Pamela Pammie
Some people have an addictive personality. They need mental help, which isn’t a bad thing. We need to make mental health more accessible to those who need it.
Pamela Pammie bullshit ….. Heroin is not a disease it’s a choice PERIOD
Pamela Pammie I feel terrible about this but Addiction is not a disease. Cancer is. Addiction is a choice and can be prevented. Cancer cannot.
We are all allowed an opinion no need to get nasty
Pamela Pammie
Absolutely
Don Garon Sr. Well let’s think about that lung cancer is from smoking. So that’s a disease but addiction is not a disease ?
Pamela Pammie Again….Both a choice
Pamela Pammie I’m sorry but I know someone who had lung cancer and never smoked or drank a day in his life so no NOT all lung cancer is from smoking
90% of those suffering from lung cancer smoked. Not all addicts started off using heroin some got addicted from pain medicine. And I am sorry sorry for your friend. I worked for hospice 8 years cancer is a very painful disease
Don Garon Sr. Well plebeian opinions mean little to proven research with billions of research which is federally recognized. They have the only word in it
It’s sad that our residents are dying off from this horrible drug.
Mike Towle pm me
Kill all the Heroin dealers
Scott Weiler
Agreed- death penalty needs to be brought back. If dying isn’t enough of a punishment for killing someone, then you really need help. A couple dealers get killed by lethal injection, you’ll see this shit stop quick.
Maybe if ocean county court stopped letting the dealers off on drug court? Maybe that would be a start?? ???????? These fuckin people know they’ll die and they just don’t get it. Disease? My ass. The people who even slightly believe that are idiots. You can change your life- its not hard. Stop giving these people pity and lock their asses up!!
Michelle Lyne Nay-lor even if it is hard, it’s worth it. Nothing in life is easy.
Lori McClane so everyone needs to stop feeding them the pity formula and make them get help. Like i can’t even waste any more breath on the jerkoffs. If you are a dealer or user they need to be locked up. Wanna shoot dope? Cool, here’s a cell to live in. No no thats too hard. Its easier and cheaper to put them on drug court and make them take a class where they can still use on the weekends.
Michelle Lyne Nay-lor u have no idea what your talking about!!! Drug Court is set up for failure and costs tons of money. Incarceration only widens the circle of bad!!! Let’s try rehabilitation; long term!!! Let’s get them the help they so desperately need!!!! My beautiful son who was, worthy, by the way, died 11/4/2018. Just last year. Where there is life, there is hope!!!!
Jeff N Debbie Canfield ????
Jeff N Debbie Canfield i have a brother in law who overdosed. Ive had family members and friends od I also have a cousin who used for years and he got clean. Cold turkey. Its not fucking hard! Stop making excuses for this shit! Drug court jail rehab nothing works because they are junkies and they want to live like that. They want to sell and use they need to be locked up. Stop slapping them on the wrist and make them spend their days in jail.
Its not just our residents its an epidemic all over very sad
Cindy Morgan Jennings true but in Lacey. It’s like an every day occurrence
Cindy Morgan Jennings more like a pandemic far worse
I Wish That Shit Never Was Made Or On This Earth????????????????
So sad… But this person knew what they were doing… Its heartbreaking… But enough is enough already..
Kathy Marzano I agree
Sad
Maybe people need to say no to heroin… just like we did…..you know what it does…you know the consequences…..so why play Russian roulette? It’s your choice to put that needle into your arm….i feel bad for the families……
Just so sad no matter what RIP , I want to put this out here If anyone wants help with addiction please reach out to Just Believe inc. or go to Riverwood Rec center T. R. and say I want help They will help you from there ???????? Please to many gone to soon PLEASE Reach our , Please don’t trash folks on here It’s a disease something lead them to this point so think about the family still here that have lost a loved one . Be caring sadly say simple RIP and Prayers for the family that all ????????????????????????????
Prayers to the family ????
????
Very sad. RIP
Very sad….I don’t believe it’s a disease. I don’t know but it just seems that ever since they classified it as a disease and made Narcan so readily available, it has become increasingly worse. Prayers for this family….
Suzan Dunnkosky no it hasn’t.it just seems it’s gotten worse because now,it shows up in the FB world, where everyone has had their heads up their asses for the past decade.dont do anything to help, just sit on the Internet, judge and argue whether or not it’s a disease ????????♀️????????♀️????????♀️
Kellee-shea Graham true you are more aware of it today because of social media, however usage today is way greater than it was a decade ago, social media or not.
This was happening 25 yrs ago Along with crack cocaine. Back then you heard thru the “grapevine” & the addition of fentanyl & now meth is all that is different.
Denise Pegg no I disagree….you didn’t hear of one or two practically every other day….sorry I disagree….it is far worse today than 25 years ago for sure….
I still can’t believe how many ignorant people make such uneducated comments when these posts appear. “Maybe people need to say no to heroin,” “This person knew what they were doing,” “I hate when people say it’s a disease.” The only thing these people have in common, thankfully, is they never lost anyone to an overdose, nor have they seen first-hand what it is like to see someone battle addiction. If it were that easy to “Just say no to heroin” then those battling would do so. I cannot speak for all addicts, but I can assure you my son HATED being an addict. He battled for 10 years, won a few battles along the way, but sadly lost the war. I wish Ocean County Scanner would STOP these posts; not really sure why they do that. As for those who make comments similar to the ones in quotes, be very thankful you have not experienced the depth of sadness as you watch a loved one deteriorate before your eyes as they desperately try to win that addiction war. And hope and pray you never have to!
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro excellent response to those uneducated on this epidemic
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro because ocean county scanner news is the most mind boggling stupid baiting web page fb has produced
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro I just wonder how many of these judgmental “it’s NOT a disease” morons smoke cigarettes. We should stop Narcan? Maybe first responders should stop making Oxygen available for smokers that go into respiratory distress, after all, tobacco is a choice also! I can’t stand the mentality that spews the hate for those that suffer from addiction ????????
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro my son also battled with addiction many years and he hated it!!! He lost his battle 3 yrs ago May 12,2016 he’s at peace now, love and miss him so much ???? sorry for your loss????
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro I am so sorry for your loss ????
They need to start deleting smart asses from this page before all the good people decide they have had enough and leave it. smh
Kellee-shea Graham
We’re stupid because we show the world the true side of reality? Please elaborate…
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro I lost my son too!! Just last year 11/4. But it’s definitely a disease and the battle is trying!!! I’d say we also went thru 10 years if not longer and thru it; he tried I’m sure much like yours. It’s awful to witness. I’m sooo sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, I feel your pain. It angers me also to see such posts and the judgment and the family left behind is awful as well
Dawn Higgins
That would require a full-time staff. We all are volunteers with limited time we can commit to the website.
Ocean County Scanner News thank you for an answer lol
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro well said Donna!
Kellee-shea Graham then leave the group
Donna – why don’t you keep your judgemental comments to yourself?
Having had a family member addicted to heroin for more than twenty five years – I CAN speak from experience. Please get yourself some counseling – the pity party surrounding the death of heroin addicts needs to stop. People who post on these threads have every right to express themselves as they wish – weather they’ve lost someone or have been ripped off by junkies.
I encourage everyone to post their true thoughts and feelings as there is no need to gift wrap heroin addiction – and those they’ve destroyed.
Nouvelle Mifsud I am truly sorry for the loss of your family member. I actually do go to counseling; however, it sounds like you, too, might benefit from doing so. In one breath you tell me to keep my judgmental comments to myself (I didn’t even think I was being judgmental); yet, you encourage everyone to post their true thoughts and feelings. Rather contradictory! And I would be the last person to gift wrap heroin addiction. Again, Nouvelle, I am very sorry for your loss and can see it has had a profound effect on your life, just as it has had on mine. But I was commenting more about not understanding why Ocean County Scanner News feels the need to post every OD, as well as those nasty heartless comments from those who clearly have no idea about addiction. Have a good day and be well!
Elaine Compitello Goffio OMG Elaine, we lost our son June 4, 2016 (less than a month after you lost your son).???? I believe our son is at peace as well, never to be tormented any more. I am so very sorry for your loss. :'(
Ocean County Scanner News Just as all so-called news-reporting today, it all goes way over the line. I don’t need to turn on the news and watch a beat down repeatedly. Yes, I do want to be informed that a crime occurred in a certain place (especially if that place is where I work, live, shop, etc); but the news sensationalizes it and that is just ridiculous! And then we all want to know why crimes like that occur. As for you showing the world the true side of reality, with all the too-many OD’s I’m guessing there are not too many people today that are unaware of the addiction epidemic occurring everywhere. I just don’t see the need for you to “report” them. And, personally, I believe you seem to get some weird pleasure hearing folks to voice their uneducated comments here when you do. Just saying!
Jeff N Debbie Canfield So very sorry for your tragic loss. :'( And it does anger me to see such unnecessary callous comments.
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro I too lost my 19 year old son to addiction, although he wasnt using heroin at the time of his overdose, it was Xanax, Oxycontin and cocaine. Until someone loses someone to the disease of addiction, most will usually have uneducated “knowledge” spewing from their tongues.
Pamela Zboray so very sorry for your loss :'(
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro still a choice to put that needle in your arm…
Lynn Marie You keep telling yourself that, Lynn; I pray you never lose a loved one to this! Have a good evening!
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro so sorry for your loss. I completely understand what you went through as I am watching my daughter struggle to fight her inner demons with heroin.
Pamela Zboray sorry for your loss
Elaine Compitello Goffio I miss him so much. He had a heart of GOLD!! Elaine you and Bob raised just a gentleman
Deanna Whelan-Krupa I pray your daughter wins the war????
Victoria Carmella yes he did have a heart of gold, very caring, giving and loving???? you’re welcome here anytime,Vicky, I just want to let you know that ♥️
Poor soul! Condolences to the person’s family
They give the max for drinking and driving but if your caught with herion it’s a slap on the wrist …such bullshit …all around…it’s just bad choices all together
It’s an addiction that turns itself into a disease. Why did this person end up in this unfortunate situation.
Ocean County Scanner News that’s not how diseases work. Doing drugs is a choice not a disease.
Go away. Please and thank you.
Few times a week it seems in Lacey
Sharing the heartbreaking story of Lexi, written by her mother, Susan:
Is the girl in the photograph the image you picture when you hear the words “heroin addict”?
This is my daughter, Alexa. And from the moment she was born to the moment she left this earth, she was adored. Loved not only by her family but also by those whose path she crossed. She was inquisitive, playful and intelligent. She was kind and loving with a smile that lit up a conversation, lit up a room, and warmed a heart. She loved books, especially books about spirituality, holistic living, books to help her understand the injustices in the world, and ways that she could find herself. Among her favorites were “The Secret”, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, and Victorian romances. Alexa had a devotion for animals especially horses and her two dogs and spent time training them and caring for them. She kept journals throughout her life with pages full of raw emotion, poetry, and delicate sketches. She was deeply sensitive and felt life intensely.
In the beginning of her college years, Alexa excelled in her classes and earned her place on the Dean’s List. Sometime later, still in college, she met a ‘friend’; a young man who gave Alexa her first dose of heroin. “Just give it a try”. “What harm can it do”? It was from that first use, our daughter became physically and mentally addicted to this drug. She fought desperately and admiringly to overcome the tremendous grip heroin had on her life. Every single day was a battle for Alexa as well as those of us who loved her and had to watch her suffer. We did everything we could; would have given our lives for her. Despite the love and guidance bestowed upon her, the rehabs and detoxes, her perseverance, heroin inevitably took her in and suffocated every dream and aspiration she ever had.
Alexa died of an overdose on September 21st, 2017. She had periods of time where she was free from heroin. During these times she begged God to keep her sober, sought counseling, used holistic practices, and tried to keep her focus on holistic living and organics, and exercise. But the darkness would eventually settle in again and she would turn to the very drug that caused her so much pain, desperate to escape for a time from her tortuous thoughts of guilt and shame she felt hurting the family she loved so. Alexa described heroin as a “very lonely drug that takes you away from every part of your life and leaves you hanging on the brink of death”.
This is Alexa’s story and I ask that you share it with your loved ones and friends. Because:
1. The horrible stigma that many people have of heroin addicts needs to be dispelled. Our daughter was beautiful, intelligent, educated and well spoken. She was given every opportunity a child should have. We are hard working parents who have raised our children with morals and values. We are not addicts. We are normal people who have always given the best to our children. Alexa was not a ‘street junkie’. She worked from the age of 16 and supported herself up until a few months before her death. She was somebody. She was our beloved daughter. And we will forever wonder if there was anything we could have done differently.
2. If this can happen to Alexa then it can happen to anyone. It only takes one time to become addicted to heroin. ONE TIME is what it was for Alexa. She took heroin having no idea the power it would have over her. Heroin is EVERYWHERE. Alexa used for the first time on her college campus while she was drinking and her judgement was weakened. Your loved one could be offered heroin, just like Alexa. He/she might take it and think they won’t get addicted, just like Alexa. You can be assured that if my precious daughter, who had the world at her feet, could become addicted to heroin and die from an overdose, it can just as easily happen to your child or loved one as well.
Please share my daughter, Alexa’s story and when you do, please show her picture.
Thank you,
Susan Frost Lamoureux
Beautiful young lady, Dawn; so very sorry for your huge loss. :'( Thank you for sharing.❤
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro thank you for your kind words. I do not know this beautiful young lady but her mother’s story has stuck in my heart among many others. I have also been personally effected by a addiction. Young and old I have seen struggle. This will not go away and I said before it could be anyone’s child, sister brother, family member or friend. ????.
We need tools and support in the local government for them.
Dawn E. Olmesdahl-Baxter so lovely written may she RIP and may people understand addiction instead of making fun of or calling names.i pray we one day find a solution to this so we dont keep loosing people we love
Kelly Ann Borden thank you.
Prayers to the family. R.I.P
Just tired of some of the heartless people who think it’s funny or who are cold and mean in the comments about addiction. The world has gotten too desensitized no sympathy or empathy for humanity????.
Sadly, very true.
Dawn E. Olmesdahl-Baxter you can’t tell people who they should feel sorry for
Michael Phillips I’m not. People will do and feel what they want. But If I can bring a personal story/ a face to the them about how it happens maybe they will rethink and not be so hasty to judge. Have a little empathy for what families go through.
and sadly when u post comments like urs on fb ,you become the target as their “triggered” target ……immaturity
Al Brander had that happen on another post. . I won’t stop using my voice.
Dawn E. Olmesdahl-Baxter u go girl ????
Dawn E. Olmesdahl-Baxter there is so much help out there for one and for two which is the fact you know what will happen when you make that first choice to stick that needle…how is anyone desensitizing anything…I’m 15 years clean of drugs it is possible had I known what that first hit would do?….I WOULD HAVE NEVER MADE THAT CHOICE …YET HERE I AM CLEAN!…just don’t make that choice!…you know damn well the drug is not what it was!….wth people?!?!
Robin L. Hazen Congrats on your sobriety and it’s wonderful you had the strength to overcome that. Not many do. What I’m saying is most of these kids are clueless. Just like Lexi at a party had too much to drink and not capable of making the right choice. Once it’s done, it’s done. No matter what it’s an epidemic that needs to be addressed. I think cruel jokes about some one ODing is just disgusting .
Dawn E. Olmesdahl-Baxter you are right ….parents and even family members have a real hard hard job watching out for our children and family…sometimes I even think when rights of parents have been taken away?.and the influence out there …and I mean right outside our doors is so,strong ?..we as parents and family need to step it up …idc what authority says …it’s such a hard situation all around …I’m so grateful my children are ok and healthy …maybe it’s because they know what I went through idk…all I know is I have one minor child alert and he can’t even stand my cigarettes …mat god bless you and yours and may we all never have to go through this pain…
Christi ????
Does my son look like a heroin addict???? He was amazing with the kindest heart and the best personality and he was loved!!!! This DISEASE sucks!!!
Jeff N Debbie Canfield I’m so sorry for your loss. ????????????.
This state, this country, really needs to step up. Make programs readily available.
Jeff N Debbie Canfield I’m so sorry about your son. I agree it is a very sad disease
Jeff N Debbie Canfield its not a disease its a choice
Mark Zambella disagree!!!!
I see your from Brick. My son was raised in Brick!! When he first got in trouble with pot; do u know what our schools do…label you!!! He was on the track team and on the swim team. He got kicked off of everything for a one time mistake and it was just a down slide from there!!! They took all the good away!!!! The things these kids need the most!!! I could go on and on. The emotional, the financial, the pain, the stress on families. It escalates in a bad way and promotes bad behavior so as the years go on it worsens. This is a viscous cycle and needs to be looked at differently cuz it’s not working and my beautiful boy is no longer here!!!!
Handsome young man; again, so very sorry for your loss! :'(
Donna Liuzzi Tuminaro I’m sorry for your loss as well ❤️
If this were looked at differently as the disease it is; perhaps our children would’ve have gotten help instead of crucified with fines, jail, alienation, loss of friends, sports, etc. Maybe it wouldn’t have gone to the next level. But it’s the ignorance that stops this. Gov Christie recognized it as a disease and finally put some good things in place but there needs to be more… and if I recall, his attitude was the result of a dear friend suffering. I hate to see anyone have to suffer and unfortunately it affects even the Best of us!!!
Jeff N Debbie Canfield Kyle was a great & very respectful young man.

Victoria Carmella ❤️
Jeff N Debbie Canfield you are so right on all of it.
This is a scourge that needs to be addressed by our president, it’s an extreme emergency
he is too busy building a wall
Bruce Buchanan President Trump is working to combat this crisis. Since 2017, he has dedicated 7.6 billion to states to help fight the disease. Due to his prescription opioid policies, we are seeing more & more greedy doctors losing their licenses because of being dealers instead of doctors. Besides working on ways to fight the Mexico cartels, he has also pressured China to stop the influx of fentanyl which is manufactured there. I try to keep up on this war, but we don’t get much from main stream media about what is happening
Patricia Ann Rush yes I know he is, but this problem is huge and needs more attention
Bruce Buchanan I agree Bruce. It is like a genocide of our young.
Patricia Ann Rush would love to actually have one phone call from the president
And that addict that you are so happy is dead? That is someone’s child! That is someone’s father or mother! That is someone’s friend, brother, sister, HERO! That is the love of someone’s life! How dare you! How dare you judge something you are so uneducated about. How dare you judge the value of a life you know nothing about. How dare you rejoice in “another dead junkie” without knowing the first damn thing about who that person was. HOW DARE YOU!
Patricia Ann Rush bravo ????????. That is the truth.

Sorry you feel that way, and you stated several falsehoods about our business. We are going to post every overdose we hear. We will continue to publish our reports monthly when we can. Until enough people demand a new solution to the addiction disease, we’ll be here.
Perhaps the realities of life sensationalize themselves? I feel your criticism of our website is crap, and urge you to seek alternative news sources.
Ocean County Scanner News I made no falsehoods, nor criticisms, about your business; I simply expressed my thoughts. Sorry you feel that way.

You said You don’t see the need why we do something. That’s a criticism. We post overdoses to ensure awareness remains high.
Ocean County Scanner News As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I’m guessing there are not too many people today that are unaware of the addiction epidemic occurring everywhere. I still don’t see the need for you to “report” them! There are several school programs, public workshops, etc. that take place to ensure awareness. You can stand by your comment that you post overdoses to ensure awareness remains high. I personally feel there is NO NEED to post overdoses in order to ensure awareness. And I believe by your doing so, it opens the floodgates for those uneducated and crass people to just make hurtful and unnecessary comments. You have a great night, OCSN!
This is so sad
My love and prayers go out to the family may you rest in peace my little friend
Mark Hodges pm me if you know who it is.
People who don’t understand depression is an disease, addiction, is a disease is totally incompletely immorally incomprehensible to actually think they have an opinion or knowledge bof anything. They are laughable! Do you your research! I feel sorry for you and anyone in your life had such a thing may touch.
Why don’t you go do some research??? Cancer, Cancer, Cancer….
Wanna know how many things people to CAUSE their CANCER???? It’s laughable! You righteous people are indeed laughable!!! I feel so sorry for you as a human!!!
Go research the brain and addiction. Go research the brain and mental illness. Then go research cancer and sometimes human actions that cause it. Then come back and talk again.
And before anyone wants to insult my wording/punctuation. I wanted to correct certain things. The site won’t let me edit.
So sad RIP praying for the family
