Brick Township Police Department: On Wednesday night, December 4th, the SCU investigated suspicious activity they observed in the parking lot of Walmart on Rt. 88. The two subjects involved, later identified as Thomas Ryan (60 years old of Brick) and Kyle Jakubowski (22 years old of Point Pleasant), were seen exchanging a package and then parting ways. SCU members continued to observe Ryan as he left the area while others continued observing Jakubowski.

Investigation, which included assistance from an Ocean County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, led to the search of Jakubowski’s vehicle, and the procurement of a court ordered search warrant on Ryan’s residence. The searches revealed the following:
627 THC vape cartridges
4 lbs. of marijuana
9 lbs. of THC candy
14 oz. of psilocybin mushrooms
Over $127,000 in cash

These discoveries resulted in the seizure of Ryan’s vehicle and evidence of a storage unit.

Thomas Ryan was charged with multiple accounts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) and Manufacturing/Dispensing of CDS. He was also charged with the 1° crime of Maintaining/Operating a CDS Production Facility and Possessing Property Derived from Criminal Activity. He was lodged in Ocean County Jail.

Kyle Jakubowski was charged with Possession of a CDS, Manufacturing/Distributing a CDS and Possession of Paraphernalia. He was released on a summons.

The following day, Thursday the 5th, court ordered search warrants for Ryan’s vehicle and a storage unit belonging to both subjects led to the discovery of:
An additional (approximate) pound of marijuana
Hundreds of THC vape cartridges
Manufacturing and packaging material related to the THC cartridges
Suboxone
Suspected Methamphetamines
Suspected MDMA (ecstasy)

Jakubowski was again arrested and charged with the additional counts of Possession of a CDS and Manufacturing/Distributing of CDS. He was then lodged into Ocean County Jail.
