Brick: After an alleged assault of a 12 year old student by another student on a bus in Brick, the Board of Education and Transportation came under intense scrutiny last week for not having cameras on the interior and exterior of all buses as many other surrounding towns do.
The mother of the student that was allegedly assaulted started a Change.Org Petition demanding that Interior and Exterior Cameras be mandated for all Buses to protect students and it has garnered over 2,700 signatures.
We have received messages from Brick Parents that they are now just seeing and/or being advised that there are cameras on atleast some of the buses in Brick Township. If you are a Brick Parent with a Child who rides the bus to/from school is there a camera on their school bus? Let us hear from you

Southern Regional School District buses(or at least some of them) have cameras inside. I had a bunch of bad kids on my bus when i was younger so we’d get called in a classroom to watch the tapes & get group yelled at all the time lol

Ocean County Scanner News we drive all over my run this year is in Tinton Falls one year it was Jersey City last year it was a local school. From what I hear it’s mandatory for all busses to have cameras now

I grew up going to school even when some kid stood up the driver knew and stopped the bus, drivers have ears can not only hear the fight but the other kids yelling fight.
Did the little 12 year old tell the bus driver and the parents the name of the bully the slap him? Or was it some Randon Thug they picked up?
Glenn Ehrhardt ….driving in Brick requires a drivers complete attention on the road. Also, if the heaters were on the driver wouldn’t necessarily hear much from the back off the bus.
One of the kids on the bus could have told the driver what was going on.
Laura Lech did you get the name of the kid that slapped yours? Did you contact the school or bus driver? How about the kids parents? I’m sure all of these would have been a lot easier then driving up the school budget.

Just a thought but we never had cameras, aids or anything close back in the 60s and 70s. We were just raised different, yeh we had fights, off the bus. It’s sad that we need to have these surveillance cameras to keep an eye on these kids today.

Laura Lech Exactly, this shits been brewing for a long time. My kids were told, if you’re gonna get suspended, it better be for defending themselves and not bullying or starting fights.

I’m glad someone in brick is doing this may son was bullied and beaten on the bus and nothing was done driver did nothing!!! An this was in brick schools as well
