Casey Anthony’s parents are speaking out a year after a near-fatal accident that almost cost George Anthony his life. Dealing with the aftermath of the tragic accident made George deeply reflect on his life, including his relationship with his only daughter.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, George lost control of his 1999 Toyota 4-Runner in November last year, while driving down Interstate 4 in Volusia County, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Anthony’s SUV flipped several times, crossed three lanes and halted at a median.

First responders rushed Anthony to the Halifax Medical Center. A trooper who responded to the incident said the man’s injuries were “incapacitating.”

Although he survived the accident, Casey Anthony reportedly never visited her father and never contacted him. They haven’t spoken in years.

George had a strained relationship with his daughter after her 2011 trial, when she was acquitted for the murder of her toddler daughter, 2-year-old Caylee Anthony. In 2017, George said his relationship with Casey Anthony had turned non-existent, and he warned her to stay away from him.

After the accident, George Anthony apparently changed his mind.

In an all-new episode of the “Dr. Oz Show,” George and his wife, Cindy Anthony, spoke candidly about his bouts of depression following his accident. George also revealed he’s ready to forgive Casey, and wrote a heartfelt letter to her, seeking reconciliation.

“I said, Casey, no matter what I’m still your dad and I love you. That was hard for me, but I needed to get that from me because you can’t move on if you keep on holding all these things inside, you need to able to express yourself. Even though what she’s done to Caylee, to her and I or anyone else, I just wanted to know that I was ready to forgive her, at least I wanted to see her and talk to her….I just wanted to just see her. I miss a hug from her and those hugs that I got from her or from Cindy they mean the most.”

When Oz asked the pair if they thought Casey Anthony was a good mother, both agreed she was. George added that Casey Anthony was a good mother “before all this stuff happened with Caylee.”

Cindy Anthony said she didn’t think of her daughter as a murderer. When she reflects back on Caylee’s death, she feels that it was a tragic accident.
