The grandfather of a 1-year-old girl who fell to her death from a cruise ship this summer has been charged with negligent homicide, multiple outlets report.
According to the Associated Press, a judge in Puerto Rico ordered the arrest of Salvatore Anello on Monday after prosecutors argued that his granddaughter, Chloe Wiegand, 18 months, fell and died after he lifted her up to an open window on the ship.
Anello was being held on an $80,000 bond, according to ABC News, but the 51-year-old has since been released. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 20, CNN reported.
The Family has suffered enough. This is due to the Lawsuit against the Cruise Line.
This poor family and what they are going through. It was an accident and the cruise ship should be charged for the window being open in the kids play room not the grandfather being charged.

Priscilla Mason when the child was younger he took her somewhere and she would lean against the window all the time to watch her brother play sports or something like that. So that is what she did on the ship but the window was opened and no one knew
I’ve been on this ship. It wasn’t in a child’s play room. No windows open there. It was on the pool deck. He had her sitting in a window, which he had to reach over a very high hand railing. They come up to my chest. There’s no way he didn’t know the window wasn’t open
Priscilla Mason the crew opens them & closes them. It’s nothing like a window at home. They are chest high & an adult can’t even reach out them. They have a railing in front of them.

He was negligent IMO not the cruise line. I do not however see how a lawsuit would lead to hia arrest. The cruise line is not arresting him…

Taylor McKeon you can definitely tell what windows are open. The picture shows they are different colors. But they aren’t on Royal Caribbean ships. But there is zero chance you can’t tell which one is open & which one isn’t

It was on channel 2 yesterday and they showed the ship and the window. As I said before the grandfather also let her lean against the glass at hockey games and etc. He had no clue the window was open and she accidentally fell. He feels horrible for what happened. Do you people really think he would put his granddaughter in danger? No. The family has been through enough already and he should be left to mourn with the rest of the family. Accidents do happen. And like I said before, they showed the window she fell from.

Lynn Marie cruise ships often open a few windows on a pool deck. Otherwise it would be stifling hot. The open window was 4. Feet up and behind a safety rail. It is very obvious what windows are open or closed.
