LAKEHURST – The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is advising residents to expect emergency notifications over the next two days as they conduct a terrorist threat response exercise. Residents should not be alarmed.

An alert from the Base on Oct. 29 noted that it will conduct a full-scale installation exercise on Oct. 29 and 30 “to simulate a terrorist threat involving an active shooter and chemical attack on the base.”

The alert was prefaced for the public with “EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE.”
The exercise is meant to ensure that the base is capable of “preserving the force, conducting all assigned missions and performing relevant preparation, response, protection and mitigation actions in the face of such a threat,” according to the Base.

Everyone should expect emergency notifications from the base, but they will all be prefaced with “EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE.” There will also be occasional travel or service inconveniences as a result of the exercise.
