Washington Twp: An adult son is sought for questioning in the killings of his parents in Warren County, Washington Township police and the county prosecutor report.

Todd S. Warner, 50, “has significant information” about the deaths of Frank N. Warner and Joyanne J. Warner, both 73, and “we need to speak to him,” county Prosecutor Richard Burke said. Todd Warner is not charged in the homicides — he is a person of interest — but was charged with stealing a vehicle and a credit card in the same time frame from his parents, Burke said.

Frank and Joyanne Warner were found dead Sunday evening in different parts of the three-story home after police responded to a call from a family member of an unconscious person at 6 Peregrine Drive in an age-restricted community in the township, police and Burke said. Autopsies were scheduled for Monday by the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of the deaths, but Burke said blunt force trauma was evident, indicating the couple were beaten. Both deaths have been ruled homicides, authorities have said.

Todd Warner, who had been living in the home, is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds, police and Burke said. He might be driving a silver 2019 four-door Kia Soul with New Jersey registration E11LCW, police said.

Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous, but Burke said that is more the result of what happened to his parents. There was no evidence of gunfire in the home and Todd Warner isn’t a registered owner of a gun, Burke said.

There is no immediate record of previous domestic issues involving Todd Warner and his parents, Burke said. Todd Warner has “little if any” previous criminal record, Burke said.

A neighbor said Todd Warner is a divorced father of one. There was no indication a child was living in the house, Burke said.

Todd Warner’s Facebook presence is sparse and may have been pared back in recent days, but the prosecutor said while that may be so, investigators “don’t have any specific idea” why that would have been done.

Authorities will provide updates later Monday if more information becomes available that can be released to the public, Burke said.
