A personal home office is 100% legal. Unless he had other employees working there If that was the case, I stand corrected but I doubt he had other employees working there.

Dave Schwartz The issue with the home office shouldn’t be as alarming compared to the issue of this landlord not even owning that property that he tried to rent out. These people find abandon homes and somehow gain entry to these properties and then act as the management company With potential tenants that have no clue as to the uninhabitable Status of the property.
A similar situation almost happened in my neighborhood with an abandoned property. But fortunately the neighborhood made complaints to the local zoning office and the whole transaction was indeed shut down and the paper trail lead back to one of these individuals in Lakewood. An illegal operation for sure

One day while driving down MLK I saw a “house for rent” sign, so we stopped in front of the lil house. On the front white door was a big Red sticker deeming the home inhabital. The door was open so for shits n giggles we went in. It was a cute lil 2br house that smelt horribly of mold. But when we went into the kitchen, there was like a lil hill that was the length of the kitchen. The original windows were still on the home couldnt imagine anyone living in it. Two weeks later there were 2 families living in it.
While renting on e county line about 12 yrs ago, the township showed up because they saw that the deck steps n deck looked loose n dangerous. They told us n the downstairs tenants we had to leave and put red stickers on our doors. Now mind you, the landlord was called but did nothing. We took razors n got the red stickers off the doors and lived there another yr before we moved. Township does not follow up when homes are deemed inhabital or shut down for over crowding
