PRESS RELEASE*
On October 24th at 1:29 am, our patrol units were dispatched to an address on Belmont Drive for a reported robbery. Two victims reported that two male subjects entered their residence, at least one individual was reportedly armed with a handgun. The suspects fled the scene in one of the family owned vehicles with unknown proceeds . The vehicle was quickly located by patrol units, abandoned a short distance away. A K9 track was conducted, leading officers to nearby Magnolia Avenue, where it is believed the suspects may have entered into a second vehicle. At this time, it is unknown if the victims were known to the suspects. We believe this was an isolated, specifically targeted event and we have no reason to believe there are any immediate threats to the public. The Beachwood Police Department assisted with the initial response, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit is assisting with the follow-up investigation. This is an ongoing investigation and we will update the public as information becomes available. If anyone has information regarding the incident, please contact Det. Timothy Meier at (732) 349-0313 x 112.
