Toms River: The overpriced Shell Gas Station has been knocked down, and work has begun on clearing the land for a new Chase Bank. This is intriguing as there are two vacant bank buildings within a mile from this corner for sale. There’s a former PNC at NJ 37 @ Wranglebrook and a former Wells Fargo in the shopping center actually to the direct left of this property. This Chase bank will be built on the South East corner of NJ 37 @ Bananier.
Anyway, you can never have enough banks, pizza, nail / hair salons, or Wawas.
TOMS RIVER – If you’re wondering about the gas station being torn down at the corner of Route 37 and Bananier Drive, it will eventually become a bank.
The application was made by JPMorgan Chase Bank earlier this year and progress on the site is underway.
The bank will have two drive-up ATM lanes. These won’t have teller windows or chutes, just ATMs. There will be 30 parking spaces.
The Shell station had a full access driveway on Bananier. The two driveways on 37 were both right turn only. The bank plans on removing one of the driveways on 37 but keeping Bananier the same.
Sometimes, gas stations lie dormant after being closed because there is chemical contamination. According to the application, tests suggest that no environmental remediation is needed. The gas tanks will be removed, and it’s possible that issues could be found after that.
That little strip between cvs on Bannier & 37 is a dangerous area with accidents all the time. I hope they fix it…..cars rushing all the time…need a light…
Stupid as hell
We need a Hooters
Rick Salamon you need some brains
Richter Belmont you need to develop a sense of humor
You are correct there is an empty bank site a few hundred feet from here. Also Shell gas is always overpriced, look at the one on Fisher, it’s 20 + cents higher than anyplace.
No ethanol in Shell.
Just what ya need yet another bank!! To replace the empty bank branch next to it!! I don’t get with all the online banking that’s being done why do we still need so many bank branches?
Luis Martinez
Why ??
Lol between pizza banks and Chinese there has to be a thousand o and drugs stores Ike rite aid cvs walgreens
Would have really liked a BB&T…
All the elderly need to use the banks and Favorites is right there. ( The OTB off track betting place )
Just a thought of reasons.
About dam time that place went out of business. How stupid could you be to have gas prices that dam high
For a Jersey Shore resort area town Rt 37 in TR is the worst.
what’s needed is a barnes & noble!
Karen Justin there’s one in Brick
yes there is and it would be nice if there was one in TR so some people don’t have to drive to brick and fight that horrendous traffic there just to get a few books…
I can’t even believe that Barnes & Noble hasn’t gone out of business yet.
How bout a wawa, not
I like how after the cvs they paved it by the railroad tracks but they stopped where all the bumps are getting into cvs
What intersection is this?
Lotta money and a lotta shit around here. Storage units and banks, that’s what Toms River does.
storage units, fast food, car dealerships, banks, and apartments!
If I read this article correctly, this would be a drive-up bank, self-service bank. This will not help the job market. The bank will profit by not hiring tellers. I would worry about the safety of this idea…most people use ATM to deposit or withdrawal.
maybe they can do the same on Rt37&Fisher Blvd..That’s another eye soar !!!!
That’s a really good spot for a gas station.
I don’t get it..who uses these gas stations? If someone says expense acct people..I would say..as the company providing them with gas cards..if you consistently pay over X amount…you will be responsible for the difference!
A bank, next to a bank, across from a bank!
They need to put a chase bank on the east bound side of the damn parkway away from the parkway. Two chase banks and they are both right off the parkway.
No one ever has any money but there is a bank every half block
Jonathan Orlick people have plenty of money.. they just have priorities!!
Steven Stromberg People shopping lately ALL seem broke. Maxed cards and no cash. Had someone in line ahead of us a few days ago take 15 minutes to split payment five ways. Bill was $45
Haha
We need a good Family own bakery on this side of town!
Zach Kuhlwein

Zach Kuhlwein Well rock wall wasn’t a rock wall right away. There’s still hope for a chili’s nearby!
Bank of America is right next door
We need a Chic Fil A!!

Better a bank than housing
