Picking a winner was extremely hard, and I wish we had the budget for 200 scanners to give out. Tons of stories touched the staff, and the kind words for the page kind of kicked up some dust around the command center. We are lucky to have such wonderful fans that make up the OCSN Community. That being said, we had to narrow the winner down to one lucky fan.

We chose Naomi McCarthy as her story is posted below. We decided it is nice to give something back to a person who is giving her career to help others as an EMT. Furthermore, it is embarrassing that the county has such shitty radios for our first responders that she can’t contact county communications. This will all change next year when the Ocean County Communications switches everyone over to the new 700 MHz Digital Trunked Radio System. We promise to support Sheriff Mastronardy as long as he keeps his word NOT to encrypt everything. So far it doesn’t look good, but that’s for another post. Below is Naomi’s original entry post.

“Naomi McCarthy Congratulations on hitting 30,000. So I would like to win this because I volunteer for Manchester first aid squad and rescue. I’m currently in school to become and emt. I would love to win this because it will help me contact the county when I am on calls that cant be reached with our squad radios. Thanks so much for all you do in keeping ocean county updated on the news around us.”
Naomi- PLEASE message the page to arrange for pickup of your scanner in Toms River.
Everyone else who did NOT win, please message the page to arrange for a purchase of a cheap scanner. We have models starting at $60, and they come fully-programmed for Ocean County.

Thank you everyone for sharing your story, and for sharing kind words about the page. Please look for more giveaways coming THIS WEEK to celebrate our milestone of breaking 30,000+ likes.
