LAKEWOOD – A township man has been given federal charges that he asked for images of child pornography from an underaged girls.

Samuel Schwinger, 34, of Lakewood, allegedly used an app to contact an underaged girl. He masqueraded as an underaged girl himself. He sent her sexually explicit videos of the girl he was claiming to be. In response, he wanted the girl he contacted to send videos of herself, U.S Attorney Craig Carpenito said.

He is charged with one count each of sexual exploitation of a minor, online enticement of a minor to produce child pornography and receipt of child pornography.

Carpenito credited a number of agencies for their assistance, including: special agents of the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Brian Michael in Newark; the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer; and the Lakewood, New Jersey, Police Department under the direction of Chief Gregory Meyer with the investigation leading to the charges.

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Gasparian of the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Criminal Division in Trenton.

Schwinger is already in custody on state charges, police said. He is innocent until proven guilty.
