Brick: Have plans for a Medical Marijuana Dispensary gone up in smoke?

The site at 385 Adamston Rd. Has been the source of controversy over the last year. The proposed site is now up for sale for $799,000, it was purchased in 2018 for $450,000

Initially plans were submitted by Jersey Shore Therapeutic Health Care to use the site as a Medicial Marijuana Grow Facility and Dispensary despite the RR1 Zoning not allowing that without a variance. Their plans were later ammended to only house the Medical Marijuana Growing Facility. Both of these plans were met with fierce opposition from Residents. They then dropped their plans for Marijuana all together and wanted to grow lettuce and other leafy greens at the site claiming that this use would conform to RR1 zoning. JSTHC argued before the Board that the Indoor Hydroponic growing of lettuce and other leafy greens was within the Township’s Zoning Regulations. The Board Zoning Board determined that the growing of cannabis as well as Indoor Hydroponic Farming did not meet the standards of Customary and Conventional Farming.

JSTHC has recently filed a lawsuit against Brick Township challenging their ruling.

In an interview with Shorebeat News, Anne Davis one of JSTHC owners said

Basically, if an offer came in that was close enough to asking, we would relocate,” Davis, a local attorney, told Shorebeat. “If no one purchases it before court, and we prevail, then we will continue to go for approvals as a farm.”
