Toms River: There’s a rumor going around local neighborhood groups that CVS is looking to purchase a corner lot on Bay Avenue @ Vaughn. They are apparently interested in building a store on the North-West corner of the intersection. There’s allegedly a sale contingency to get the property rezoned commercial to accommodate the store, or no sale.
The local residents are opposed to this due to increased traffic, and how CR 571 (Bay Avenue) is currently residential for this stretch.
We ask our fans if they heard anything more on this? It seems that it would be difficult to get this one corner piece of property rezoned? Has anyone been to a planning board meeting recently to confirm or deny?
Just what that area needs, I’m sure…
Intersection is dangerous enough.
please God no
There is houses on all 4 corners
There’s 2 houses on that corner. Are they willing to “sell out” for the almighty dollar for a chain store that is NOT needed in the middle of a residential neighborhood? ?
If I’m not mistaken, all 4 corners of that intersection have homes on them
Cindy Lightbody Weyandt Exactly. Residential!
Cindy Lightbody Weyandt corner lot was sold to CVS that is owned by PNG Landscaping the garage and 2 little houses
Bryon Masterson is this fact??
Ginny Procaccini fact
I am a customer of PNG and we were told when the sale happeny
Bryon Masterson so crazy I know the family and the owners of the landscaping company but why would CVS make a purchase before it’s even zoned just in case kind of makes no sense
Bryon Masterson That’s just crazy~~~its not a big lot and that intersection is already chaotic!!!
Bryon Masterson and obviously it’s not a rumor as stated here you’ve cracked the case congratulations lol
Still has to pass zoning. But yes it is sold
Bryon Masterson if it doesn’t pass zoning, does that void the sale?
Cindy Lightbody Weyandt it would have to who the hell is going to buy something especially a corporation like CVS and not be able to do anything with it
No way
Tommy Dickles Brittany Nichole
There are DOZENS of empty stores in TR and they want to build smack dab in the center of a residential neighborhood?
Vicki Tartas agreed !! Take up the old foodtown ! I can’t even imagine a pharmacy on that end ?
Cindy McDevitt wtf
Lisa Nuernberg can u imagine
There’s a Rite Aid a minute further down Bay, and another Rite Aid a minute up Vaughn. Do we really need a CVS between the two? There’s barely enough space for a storefront, and that intersection is bad enough as it is.
There’s no way they can let that happen. No rezoning. That’s a residential area and it needs to stay that way
Tell that to the people in Bayville where a 7-11 went up in a residential area on Veterans. They rezoned so to make it happen ?
Mark DeGeronimo I agree but heard it’s happening ?♀️
And a Pizza Parlor and a Nail Salon and 7-11 and a Special Coffee Cafe and a Chinese takeout and a Tattoo Shop and a Jersey Mike’s and maybe they can squeeze in a third Burlington Coat Factory.
Jay Valentine don’t forget a dollar store!
Highly doubt it will happen
Michele Santarella Canavan I’m sure that’s what the people across from CRHS thought when the rumors about a 7/11 being built were swirling.
NOPE ….. NOT HAPPENING!
that’s a terrible idea.
Let’s hope that’s really all it is, a rumor because if something doesn’t belong at that intersection it’s a CVS. (And I don’t even live in TR)! #dumb
There’s a house or 2 on that corner, it’s already a bad intersection and does the area need ANOTHER pharmacy? Keep it all residential!!
Adriana Rivera Teri Fairfax
Very bad idea!
That totally is not needed there…. Absolutely absurd!!
Residential area !!!!!! No Stores should go there !!! The end !! Our residential streets cannot handle high traffic that it will cause !!!!!!
I am sure the people in Bayville said they would never build the 7-11 across the street from Central Regional High School but they did.
Richie Johnson Danielle Spina
Chris Johnson really!?
Theres just no need for that that crap there. It would be too busy in such a small intersection and in a residential area. Please dont make this happen
18 wheelers already use Bay as very which is also nonsense
Its not true. I heard that they’re building a meth clinic there…
why?!? ☹️
A Meth clinic does not belong residential neighborhood near a down the road by elementary school !! This Town Zoning ordinances are Ridiculous and Unacceptable!!!
Rediculous, in a residential area? Isn’t traffic bad enough? Kids , bicycles, not a good fit
I wonder if it’s the corner house that used to have goats tied on the front lawn back in early 2000″s
Andy Nemec it is
Andy Nemec Yes and the chickens used to be all over the lawn. Lol
Andy Nemec I remember that! They’d get loose lol
I don’t know who comes up with these ideas but they need to lay off whatever drugs they are apparently on
Tom$ River- all about the dollar
Diana Scofide Bradley
Suzanne Brackman Cummings I know. It is busy enough there. We don’t need a CVS around the corner. Why can’t they go on Fischer? There are many empty stores fronts on that road that need filling. ?
Jessica Lynn
Lori Crooks hrmmm i’m trying to figure out where this is
Colin Healy
Tracy Brito Denora terrible idea
Colin Healy I know!!!! That’s right here!
Colin Healy hi top fan
Tracy Brito Denora I hate this. Boo. No bueno. Where’s the petition to sign?
Amy Ackerman-Ruch just doesn’t seem like there’s enough room
Tracy Brito Denora agreed. And why there? In the middle of a residential neighborhood. Where would they park?
Amy Ackerman-Ruch I know that’s what I’m trying to imagine
Ugh why do we need another pharmacy ??♀️
Hahahahahaha ok like that’s gonna happen. Crazy!
Emily Covella you hate meeeee
What?
You didn’t tag me
Oh lol
Jennifer Carlton Sharon Shields Kevin Carlton
Larissa Monique Perez
are they nuts that’s a residential area no room for a store just ridiculous
Wow just what we needed, now people can drive by the five CVS’s to to get to the new CVS
I live a few houses off Vaughn on Bay and there is NOW way they could fit a store and a parking lot here. There is enough traffic at that light from the schools being right there
How about filling up one of the many vacant stores that already exist and leave the neighborhood a neighborhood. Isn’t there a commercial lot right on fischer inbetween the diner and McDonalds just begging for a CVS. AND, is there really a need for another for a third pharmacy? We already ready have Shop rite and Rite Aid.
Patty Delaney or what about that abandoned gas station next to Duncan donuts? Eye sore!
Or anywhere on the north side of Bellcrest Plaza. Plenty of parking and the abandoned bank has a drive thru for their prescriptions. All in favor???
Patty Delaney aye ?
Patty Delaney patty for prez!
Patty Delaney can we put a big Philadephia Pretzel Factory there lol lol
Cindy Lightbody Weyandt Kate Cummings said Patty for Prez not pretzels! 🙂
Beth Reyes
Rae Rae oh crap…..
Tim
Jen Kearns
That is a ridiculously stupid place to put a pharmacy we don’t need
Trish Brophy I agree really dumb place for it. Already a dangerous intersection.
Trish Brophy terrible idea. Very bad intersection already
Erica Cirillo!!!!
Malinda Cirillo told you how long ago!!!!
Erica Cirillo terrible news
Lori Narucki Golden
Holly Lynn Michelle Griesi Ciliberto
Kristi Ascolese I didn’t realize there was room for a cvs by you guys lmao
Kayla Pace wtf that’s so dumb. Plus there’s a Rite Aid right at the end of Bay Ave, the last thing Toms River needs is another pharmacy lol
I hate this.. this is a neighborhood
Susan Elizabeth
Kelly Donahue Miranda we heard about this months ago, and apparently it’s just a rumor and not true
Susan Elizabeth oh good that would look so stupid there
Bianca McKendrick
Shirley Guttridge
Stefanie Marie
There really is no need for another pharmacy in the area.
Bay and Vaughn? Isnt that residential?
Let’s hope it stays as “a rumor”. Makes no kind of sense to throw a commercial property in an area of ALL residential!! NO WAY!
Jonathan Petro any way we could find out if this is in fact a rumor or not? And if it is true could we fight against it??? I hate to see this happen to our neighborhood!
Where tf are they gonna put it? It’s all houses and neighborhood area there. I literally had to rack my brain and see if I was remembering the correct streets or if I had just been away from TR for too long lol how tf you gonna put a store at that intersection? Insanity. Casey O’Shaughnessy Kay Enrobso
Tori Gil yeah I wonder unless they buy the one corner property on the same side as the park ! Other than that I don’t see where lol
Tori Gil there was a picture in The artical that shows which houses will go. I personally think it would be an aweful idea.
ToriTor
Casey O’Shaughnessy agreed. Just a random ass place for it
GTFO this is because people have the choice to pay $40 for a prescription at rite aid or $15 for one at CVS and people still don’t want to go to CVS. Either cause it’s all the way down 37 or cause they gotta go to Target. RITE AID IS RIGHT THERE.
Sarah Landes one right in Silverton as well.
Dawn Cimino Russell
Just what we need not
Like TR needs another one lol
Because we need more stores?
This would be a terrible idea
These drug stores are popping up like hookers one on every corner
Cause we need another one anywhere ??
Just what we need is another drug store!!!
Enough with the building. They don’t need one in that area there is a CVS on Washington St. & up the road on Fischer Blvd. Is a Rite Aid. How many pharmacies do we need in one area.
Karen Versacio-Cotello Walgreens on Washington st. I just agree with you we don’t need another store and Walgreens though not a CVS in Washington Street
Zach Kuhlwein
Nichole Bradley lame
Weird spot for it.
Merle Joy Sell-Mariano
A lot of money in drugs stores
Lori Narucki Golden
Why so many CVS and Walgreens, everywhere? Who the h*ll even goes there? ?
There are houses on that corner
I think a cancer clinic would be more appropriate.
What house is getting knocked down for this?
But what about the goats?!
What? ?
Aren’t there houses on all 4 corners?
No
just what the town needs Another CVS
But keep voting no to dispensaries because Jersey definitely needs more pharmacies….
Vote no plenty of empty stores too congested
Update: We’ve heard from residents that CVS has pulled the plans.
I’m sure there was never plans to begin with
