Burglary Investigation

On September 13th, 2019 members of the Berkeley Township Detective Bureau and Patrol Division executed a court authorized search warrant on a Saint Thomas Drive home.

This was the result of an ongoing motor vehicle burglary investigation in the senior communities of Holiday City and Silver Ridge Park.

The investigation involved 11 Reported burglaries and associated thefts. The burglaries occurred at night to unlocked cars.

At approximately 12:00pm Berkeley detectives made entry to the home. A systematic search of the residence was then conducted. Evidence to include stolen gift cards, jewelry and other personal items were recovered. Drugs and associated paraphernalia were also located within the home.

As a result,Thomas Sloan (33) of Saint Thomas Drive in Berkeley was charged. Sloan was charged with 3rd degree burglary, 3rd degree theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sloan is currently incarcerated in the Ocean County Jail on an unrelated matter.

More charges are expected as the evidence is processed.

Residents are reminded to always lock their car doors and not to leave valuables in their cars.
