The following is an official press release from the Toms River Police Department regarding the motor vehicle accident today on Route 70 @ Whitesville Road.
On Friday September 13, 2019 at approximately 9:32 AM police units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 70 and Whitesville Road for a serious motor vehicle accident. Barbara Bane, 55 of Ocean Gate, was westbound in the left turn only lane of Route 70, attempting to make a left turn at the intersection of Whitesville Road when she collided with Katelynn Kline, 21 of Manchester, who was eastbound in the right lane of Route 70 proceeding straight ahead. Both drivers suffered serious injuries as well as Ms. Bane’s rear seat passenger. All occupants were taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center, Ms. Bane was transported by medevac helicopter and is listed in critical condition.
The accident is being investigated by Traffic Safety Officer Terry Warren.

April Thompson please…I drive 70 and Hooper n Brick Blvd every day for work…its a drag strip!!! Speed limits are a joke!! I get tailgated n flipped off for obeying the LAW and going the speed limit…I don’t think anyone even realizes anymore there is an actual speed limit. You think that kind of damage and injury is going 45?? Cause that’s what you should be going…Brick blvd 35 or 40 is the posted limit…every single day I see the speeding tailgating cutting in n out like Nascar Men and Women too are worse!! They speed to a red light…you can’t come out of a strip mall which is everywhere n they wont even slow down…so sympathy ok…but people put everyone in jeopardy and see these accidents every day posted or in person and never learn a lesson n then it’s too late!!!

No one knows the cause of the accident; not all accidents are caused by speeding. Some are caused by mechanical issues such as brakes giving out or even if someone had a medical emergency such as a heart attack behind the wheel.
To make this specific comment is juvenile & insensitive to all who were involved.
Prayers to all 3 crash victims & may they heal quickly.
As for the cause of the accident, I think people need to learn to stop being insensitive and arrogant with their comments & leave the investigation to the professionals.

This is the official press release currently. Nowhere is speeding stated.
As I stated, you’re referring to your own opinion. I’m far from reaching my dear, I work in the ER myself, I see this stuff daily. I do believe you should do some research, I won’t continue to argue with the uneducated. Not just elderly have medical episodes, hence doing more research before you make a comment. Have you had to witness a mother being told her son passed away due to his injuries sustained from a car accident? Not speeding, it was due to a medical condition he had no control over.
