LAKEWOOD – A domestic dispute turns violent in Lakewood Township as a man allegedly started firing a gun into the air after fighting with his girlfriend.

Lakewood Township Police Captain Gregory Staffordsmith said they received a phone call regarding the incident on Thursday, September 12 shortly before 1:30 a.m. Police were dispatched to the house at 433 Woodlake Manor Drive after it was reported that the man was threatening people with a handgun. Upon arriving, officers heard what they believed to be 5-7 shots fired inside.

Staffordsmith confirmed that a number of people inside the residence but the suspect was not found.

The suspect, later identified as Jeffrey Pleites-Sola, was able to elude police on foot for a short time.

Officers then found Pleites-Sola squatting in the dumpster of a nearby neighborhood. A handgun was also found in a driveway.

Pleites-Sola was taken into custody and transported to the Ocean County Jail. Additional charges are pending.

No one was injured.
