TOMS RIVER – One man remains hospitalized in serious condition after an accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV on the Garden State Parkway during the height of rush hour.
Ocean County Scanner News was the first to report the incident.
New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan told Jersey Shore Online that officers responded to the crash at mile marker 84.4 around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.
The unidentified man was riding his 2006 Suzuki Motorcycle in the southbound side of the Parkway when he collided with the rear of a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox.
Marchan said “as a result of the collision, the motorcycle overturned and ejected the driver. He suffered serious injuries.”
The victim was airlifted to a trauma center.
The Parkway was closed for several hours while the investigation took place but later reopened.
Marchan added no further information was available at press time.
Yup got stuck and couldn’t get off parkway. 2/12 hr from old bridge to Barnegat
?
Jennifer Elizabeth poor you. I bet the guy who crashed feels bad for you too
John Wehrle don’t be a douche
Yea it’s ok to drive like a dick hit someone get hurt and Expect sympathy from everybody play stupid games win stupid prizes
Brian Hollingshead so true. I travel the parkway and rt 18 daily and the motorcyclists drive crazy. Always weaving in and out of cars, riding up the shoulders. It’s a shame!
I dont wish the man any harm that crashed but no Sympathy I did stupid things and I paid for them with stupid prizes
Prayers ??
Closed for several hours during rush hour to investigate, why not clean up wreck and shut it down at midnight? Oh that takes common sense
Joseph Todaro because you can’t move an accident scene and be able to properly reconstruct it for an investigation. That’s not how it works
Katherine Quick keep the lane the accident occured in closed , dont shut entire sb lanes , i get safety but its rush hour & obvious the bike hit the car from behind
I was in the traffic. The bike was in the middle lane. The truck was in the left hand shoulder. The entire accident took up most of the parkway.
Whether it was the motorcyclists fault or not, I pray he or they are ok.
All of the warnings say to watch out for motorcyclists, actually the motorcyclists need to watch out for cars….. There’s been several serious accidents recently where a motorcycle hit a car.
Sue Schmidt Adams I agree, the problem is that motorcyclists don’t want to sit in traffic like you and me. They zigzag at high speed without taking into consideration the odds against them in getting into an accident.
Sue Schmidt Adams I agree and although it’s very sad many times I see them driving weaving in and out or on the shoulder they’re not driving safely the motorcycles and then its the driver of the cars fault makes me angry and sad.
Lionel Ullger all the time!
I have no objection to motorcyclists but I can tell you from experience, most riders of those Jap bikes have no regard for rules of the road and come up on you like lightning. I hope the driver recovers and others take a warning.
Denise Langone Howell Pettersen they race up & down our street. ?
The bike wasnt one of those speed bikes. It actually looked like a Harley when I passed it.
But doesnt excuse it from being wreckless.
As I was in the traffic, there was another motorcyclist, driving a Harley cruiser with a passenger, in the left lane, Passing me and the passenger had her helmet on her lap not on her head.
The license plate was a Pennsylvania plate. I so wanted to yell at her and say to her shes in Jersey not p.a it’s illegal to not wear your helmet.
I just hope she put it on her head by the time they got closer to the accident.
The biker involved in the accident was a buddy and co worker
Jonathan Morales How is your friend I hope he is doing OK And the trip to Jersey shore was just precautionary because of the type of accident
Kathie Greitz bad critical condition.
Jonathan Morales A friend of mine was giving comfort to your friend, can you give me an update as to his condition so that I may let her know?

Just to let everyone on here know the guy was not giving like a jerk, he was going a respectable speed and not weaving in and out of traffic. I was 4 cars back when this happened and observed the guy driving on the parkway. Hope he pulls thru
Laura Bouziotis Grams thank you.
Some people don’t realize bikers can lose control over a bike without it having to be weaving in and out of traffic.
