Recently there has been Instagram posting under the moniker “NJ Bike Life”. This group has been forming “ride outs” from various locations in town encouraging large groups of adolescent cyclists to congregate for the purpose of informal group rides. While the police department encourages fun and harmless activities, some members of this group have unfortunately caused a nuisance on local roadways by intentionally blocking or even stopping vehicular traffic. There have been numerous complaints the past few weeks, specifically in the Bellcrest and Silverton sections of the township.
Officers have been directed to take enforcement action regarding state and local statutes should this group be encountered engaged in any hazardous behavior. This may include a summons and/or impoundment of the bicycle when warranted. Parents, please speak with your children about bicycle safety and the dangers of riding too close to cars, as well as, not wearing a helmet. We love that the kids are outside having fun, we just want to make sure everyone is safe.
stay off the boardwalk
Barbara Kossman Gordon this article pertains to TR & cars, roads, etc NOT the boardwalk
A group of boys were doing this the other day on Coolidge Avenue. No helmets and purposely crossing in front of the cars. Very dangerous and scary. Lucky they weren’t hit.
Dan Cummings. Fischer on Tuesday.
Fucking pigs have nothing better to do
Don Mccalip I’ll assume you’re talking about the reckless kids that are endangering people’s lives !!!
Don Mccalip Wow

While I agree that we should encourage outdoor activity it would be nice if everyone (including adults) took bike riding safety into consideration and followed the rules of the road. Hopefully the officer would just stop the kids and explain to them the dangers of doing wrong (whatever that may be). That would not be a bad thing at all. I would be happy to see that. I also wish anyone riding a bike would wear a helmet for their own protection but to wash his own.
Go ahead, try testing me on a bicycle. All I’ll hear is thump thump as I run over a new speed bump
