Brick, July 29, 2019 – Following the July 23 meeting where the Democrat-majority Brick Township Council refused to support a resolution by GOP Councilman Jim Fozman opposing Governor Phil Murphy’s Sanctuary State, calling on Brick to never become a Sanctuary City, and demanding that Murphy and his Attorney General Gurbir Grewal revoke their outrageous directive prohibiting local law enforcement from cooperating with federal ICE agents, Brick Democrats have been scrambling to explain why they won’t stand up to Murphy and allow a vote.
Local Republicans called the words “liberal lip service” from local Democrats unwilling to vote stand up to an increasingly radicalized Democratic Party in Trenton led by Phil Murphy, who swore-in Mayor Ducey to his current term.
“Talk is cheap, Brick Township residents want action,” said Councilman Fozman, who authored the anti-Sanctuary State resolution. “If Mayor Ducey and the Brick Democrats truly opposed Governor Murphy’s dangerous immigrant directive and our Sanctuary State status, they would allow a vote on my resolution and they would support it. Anything short of that is a cop out. Their words are meaningless.”
Councilman Fozman continued: “Elections are about choices and their voters in Brick now have a choice – vote for Republicans who will stand up to Governor Murphy’s radical policies, or Democrats who don’t have the courage to do the same.”
Councilman Fozman said the Brick Democrats refusal to push back – even symbolically – against Governor Murphy’s policies on illegal immigration are particularly troubling in light of what happened to the Brick School District this year.
“Governor Murphy –– and liberal Democrats in Trenton cut $22 million from our local schools, while voting to give millions of our tax dollars in tuition aid to illegal immigrants,” said Councilman Fozman. “The Murphy Democrats are out-of-control and out-of-touch with Brick, and our Council doesn’t have the guts to oppose them. The Democrats’ decision to take money from legal citizens in Brick and give it to illegal immigrants across the state is an outrage and a clear reason why we need a Republican check and balance on the Township Council here in Brick.”
All anyone has to do is travel to different towns/counties and see what administration is in charge and then research the policies they back and agendas they push. Heck, you can look anywhere on the US map and see what states back a liberal policy and what ones back conservative policy and see the conditions of said states and what radical, insane policies/agendas they push/support.
Seeing Brick for what it now is, this doesn’t surprise me one bit.
Catherine Kelly Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana are alway so high in the list of best places to live, best education, etc.
Jay West Kentucky has the second lowest cost of living in the country. WVa has a GDP higher than the national average. Your point?
Do I need to point out the states, cities, counties that are under the morally bankrupt liberal strongholds and how the quality of life is oh so top notch for those people living there?
You might want to keep quiet.
Jay West every crime ridden and poverty stricken city in this country has been run by Democrats for the better part of a century
Catherine Kelly I agree
This report came out before the criminal AG implemented sweeping restrictions on ICE and state/local police cooperation. I’d love to see what a new poll has to say.

Catherine Kelly As someone who was just in West Virginia for work a few weeks ago I can tell you if you like hanging around a bunch of people who are tweaking out on Meth West Virginia is the place for you! It’s a depressing place filled with people who want to leave, if that’s where you want to live go right ahead!
Tommy Ganzenmuller I work in a pharmacy right here in NJ. With your logic of living among “tweaking out meth heads”, I shouldn’t be living in NJ among all the “dope” addicts on legalized narcs. |
Next?
Catherine Kelly Every state has been affected by the overprescribing of opioid painkillers but NJ has a very low number of pills prescribed per person compared to other states. The Bible Belt and industrial Midwest leads in yet another negative category!
Kevin J Barron By that graph, Ca is the same as NJ. Opioids prescribed per person, per capita, NJ is off the charts. My comment to the person before you went over your head. It seems as if the whole thread has.
Catherine Kelly it’s called Bricktucky for a reason
Catherine Kelly West Virginia gdp is 42nd in the nation https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_GDP
Catherine Kelly Kentucky is actually 16th and what do you actually get for that low cost of living? https://www.missourieconomy.org/indicators/cost_of_living/
Catherine Kelly Kentucky is 38th in education https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings/education
Catherine Kelly Kentucky is 52 in life expectancy when you count in us territories https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_life_expectancy
Jay West Don’t care. I don’t have kids.
Jay West And this is why I don’t talk to people like you. Wikipedia? Really?
Catherine Kelly look towards the bottom of the list all red states.

If you’re going to try and use facts, use real facts. Ugh
Catherine Kelly red states also take far more in federal benefits than contribute while blue states contribute more than they receive.
Jay West Blue states are also known for larger, more corrupt governments/unions. We can go back and forth all day if it wasn’t for that job I have to go to where more taxes are taken out of my paycheck to fund a liberal agenda I don’t agree with, ie., increased state legal aid for illegals while school budgets/funding is slashed.
Catherine Kelly and my taxes have to go to things I don’t agree with like giving oil companies and other huge corporations millions of dollars in tax breaks and also giving billionaires tax breaks.
Catherine Kelly ok use your site. Look at 14 of the bottom 15. All red states. Nj was 9 and Kentucky was 45.
Catherine Kelly that’s a very Christian thing to say I don’t care about life expectancy, health care or education I don’t have kids. Love thy neighbor, blessed are the poor, treat others as you want to be treated. Pretty sure Jesus never said screw those kids, they aren’t mine.
Jay West Now you’re trying to use Christianity as deciphering my comments more than their meaning? Haha! Try again. I don’t care about the education standards as they don’t apply to me. I don’t have kids so it’s not my business but, I do see a problem when a school district’s budget was slashed by $22 million dollars (you forget to mention the part where I said this just without the dollar amount) so as illegals in this state get addition legal aid without having to pay.
By the way, you don’t want to pay big oil then don’t drive a car, don’t use basic utilities, don’t drink coffee, don’t buy bottled water but rather hoof it to DC and send your complaints there. I’d say hoof it to Trenton but they care about you just as much as they care about me.
Lastly, when you have a Governor who openly states that he doesn’t feel the need to work with members of government, whether it be state or local, rather he believes that those members have to come around to his way of running things then that’s not a Governor, that’s a dictator.
You’re not in my league so please stop trying.
With that said, have a great day! I genuinely mean that. I have a check to earn so I can pay for people I don’t know and policies forced upon me all while trying to make sure my family is fed and my bills are paid.
Catherine Kelly that governor who is horrible sounds just like our president. Which is the difference I can say someone who supposedly represents the party I identify with is garbage while the right never has anything bad to say about the gop and current president. Technically property taxes pay for schools and since they rent houses that rent goes to the landlords property taxes. Just for the record I don’t think illegals should be given anything however they also don’t qualify for federal programs since they are illegal.
I also have to earn my paycheck paying for things I don’t want except the things I don’t want are money going to people who earn $1,000 an hour while you don’t want your money to go to people who make $10 an hour.
Typical dumbrats, gotta love the fools who voted these clowns in
You dont realize how good you got it in brick, if you think brick is a run down garbage heap. Whatever the powers that be are doing in brick, keep doing it. Drop these scare tactics making ppl think brick is on the verge of becoming a ‘sanctuary city’ haha!
The fact is, the Democrat Mayor was the first mayor in the state to publicly say he will reject Murphy’s sanctuary state.
Here he is in 2017 declaring it…
http://shorenewsnetwork.com/2017/11/21/brick-mayor-democrat-controlled-brick-is-not-and-will-not-be-a-sanctuary-city/
Brian Kale all of NJ is a sanctuary state. Just look around
I “look around” every single day. Im talking about Brick and brick only. Dont talk this sanctuary stuff. Brick has barely any immigrants, legal or illegal in it.
Phil Stilton Do you feel the Council will pass the Resolution that Councilman Fozman suggested?
Brick Democrats towing the party line. Time to go.
