Serious Motorcycle Accident

On Saturday July 20, 2019 at approximately 11:28 AM police units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 37 and Gary Rd for a serious motorcycle accident. Dawson Palmarini, 17 of Toms River, was operating a 2013 Honda CBR motorcycle on Route 37 eastbound when he began passing heavy summer traffic on the shoulder.  Brian Bucci, 22 of Saugerties NY, was operating a 2006 Acura TL and making a right turn onto Gary Rd from Route 37 when Mr. Palmarini’s motorcycle struck the Acura resulting in Mr. Palmarini being thrown from the motorcycle.  He was unconscious and rescue breathing was performed on scene.  A Medivac helicopter landed on Route 37 and transported Mr. Palmarini to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

Mr. Palmarini was charged with Reckless Driving and Improper Passing.  Although not at fault, Mr. Bucci was charged with Operating a Motorvehicle with a Suspended License (out of NY ) and Being Involved in a Motorvehicle Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and was charged criminally and released on a summons.  The accident is being investigated by Toms River Police Traffic Safety Officer Adam Koeppen.
