Tenants already announced are LA Fitness, Ulta Beauty, Home Sense, and another.
It appears Simon is using non-union labor again. The giant rat and protestors originally surfaced for the Construction of BJ’s Brewhouse. Now the rat is back for the mall’s new General Construction.
I’m not sure why they are doing this.. it didn’t stop them before..
Can someone explain this to me? Why do unions get upset because a regular paying construction company is on a job.

Sharon Ernst because non union companies don’t pay their employees prevailing wage/benefits and are often using unsafe working methods. Unions will Protest at non union job sites to fight for the workers to get what they deserve and but pressure on the contractors to either go union or at least pay prevailing wage to their workers.

I understand it’s a very hot button issue for union and non-union workers, but there’s no reason to start yelling at each other, and hurling insults at each other, on FB, because that’s not going to solve the problem. I also am a member of a union, and pay dues, but I’ve also been in nonunion jobs too, I understand both sides, but in the end, we all have the same goal to provide for our families.

The unions have random drug testing, pay a livable wage,provide various certification courses, provide a pension,insure safe working conditions for both the worker and people that are in the work area. Many of these small and mid sized construction outfits do not have insurance for all or any of their employees……………..YOU PAY for any medical treatments if they are hurt on the job!!!

I don’t think the picket lines get the right kind of reputation everyone assumes it’s because the job went non union when truthfully they just want the labor to get paid what they deserve and not get screwed by a scab contractor

I have seen these guys parked next to where BJ’s is in their pickup trucks with a sign about shame on such a such business and whatnot. Now they are out there complaining about LA Fitness. I drive by at least twice a day and want to yell “Get over it!”

These picket lines are to fight for the employees who are not being paid prevailing wage and or benefits. Not necessarily a bad thing to want the best for other trades men and women whether they’re union or not.
