Toms River: NY Mets Third Basemen and Toms River Native Todd Frazier has donated $50,000 to the Field of Dreams – an all inclusive sports complex opening in the Fall for children with special needs.

By receiving a land donation and raising more than $2 million thus far, Field of Dreams is well on its way to having enough money for its Oct. 26 grand opening.

The space will include basketball, bocce and shuffle board courts; a walking path, temperature-controlled pavilion, complimentary snack shack, an all-inclusive playground and sports fields.

Field of Dreams is only $200,000 away from meeting its fundraising goal with Frazier’s donation, according to Kane. Town residents and businesses have also contributed to making the complex a reality.

“I didn’t realize I had that many friends,” Kane said, laughing.

Public donations go toward field upkeep, uniforms and the administrative costs of running a special needs baseball league in the fall and spring.

Kane said Frazier’s donation will ensure registration for every special needs family is free of cost.

Donations can be made on the Field of Dreams website.
