Toms River: Here Yesterday, Gone Today! The 7-11 convenience store on NJ 37 WB @ Oak Ridge (CR 527) was found to be shuttered as of today. Doors and windows are all darkened over, signage has been blacked over, and a note on the door says “Closed for Business.”

While it is random to see a 7-11 close, the competition on this corner has been fierce. The Wawa came first on this corner decades ago, and suffered a fire at one point in the early 1990s. Wawa had to close completely due to the fire, and was essentially rebuilt. During the fire closure, the 7-11 opened to serve local residents. Both stores coexisted for over 25 years on the corner, but as of today- only Wawa remains.

What will come of this vacant 7-11? Will it sit vacant for years to come? Watch in the coming weeks to see if a for sale sign gets placed out front.
