Last night we reported of a fatal accident that happened in Barnegat and the official press release is below. This accident capped off a weekend of death in Ocean County, with Three Fatal MVA‘s inside Ocean County and a gunshot death in Lakewood, NJ.

Barnegat: On June 23rd at 11:18pm, Barnegat Police responded to a report of a single-car motor vehicle crash on Warren Grove Road.

Responding officers discovered that a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche had left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, Ender Lopez-Perez, 20 years of age, from Little Egg Harbor, NJ died in the crash. The lone passenger, a 20 year old male also from Little Egg Harbor was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center as a precaution. He was evaluated and released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Ptl. Ed Hayes of the Barnegat Police Department.

During the response at the scene, a member of the Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center for medical evaluation. Please refer all inquiries pertaining to the firefighter to the Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company.

Barnegat Police were assisted by the Barnegat Volunteer First Aid Squad, Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI, Stafford Township Police Department, Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company, and the Little Egg Harbor Police Department.
