So this mornings commute turned dangerous when the driver of a car reportedly ran a red light and struck a bus operated by Hartnett Transit Service, Inc.
The bus, which had been on the road less than three months, with less than ten thousand miles on it, suffered severe damage with just the bus driver, and an aid on-board.
The driver of the car was airlifted to a hospital and we do not currently know the driver’s condition at this time.
According to our source, the bus is completely totaled, and the engine is through the dash on the inside of the bus.

People have to get off their damn phones and pay attention or they will hurt Innocent people.
Stacey Ellen the driver that caused the accident was in his 90’s…..
I highly doubt the 91 year old was on cell phone, smh
Barbara Sigley Silva yeah I’m almost positive he wasn’t texting and driving like everyone else, maybe he had an unfortunate health issue or something? Let’s just hope he’s ok and everyone else involved
Lenny Glassen yes, hope all ok. Living in a senior community I see many who shouldn’t be driving, but some have no choice I guess.
I live in a “senior” area too. I almost got hit in the parking lot at Stop and Shop in Whiting this morning after a near miss with a school bus in Lakewood. There are so many that should no longer be driving but with lack of family involvement in most cases nothing is done to prevent it. Unfortunately, it usually takes an accident to get the ball rolling on taking the license away.
The report says this accident turned deadly? Who died? Prayers for the families. ??
yeah. How is this “deadly”?
Click bait??? With a school bus? Just awful reporting
Sommer Jean It never mentions what happened to the bus driver or aide, only what happened to the bus.
Pamela agreed. Kinda confusing
The bus died from what I’ve read.RIP short bus.
Dorothy CandyThey maybe should clarify that then. ?
Sorry that was my fault when authoring the piece. I intended to say Dangerous not Deadly. (post has been edited) – OCSN03
Ocean County Scanner News Ahh ok, thanks for clarification.
Ocean County Scanner News ???? Understandable
The 91 year old male from the car was taken by helicopter to Jersey Shore and is in critical condition. The bus driver and aide had minor injuries and were taken to CMC.
Prayers to all involved

Deadly accident? Story talks about miles on a bus, nothing about the victim!

Says it turned deadly but all it says is somebody is in the hospital so who’s dead

Oh, I thought the 91 year old passed
So who died?
Says the engine of the bus is through the dash inside the bus. Doesn’t sound good for the bus driver.
I hope everyone is okay. Everyday I see more and more people running red lights just because they’re in a hurry, not because they are doing something that is distracting them. This morning at the intersection of 70 and Colonial Drive in Manchester the light turned green in my favor yet a woman ran the red light. I’m glad I learned to wait 10 seconds after the light changes before going.
Wondering how sturdy the bus is made if a Toyota Corolla can cause that much damage,
I fear that the pole did most of the damage.
Actually right around the block from my house they had 530 Lacey road closed down for about 3 and a 1/2 hours to to that crash Don’t believe anybody was seriously hurt

I’m a bus driver and so many elderly people run my red lights. It’s like they have tunnel vision and don’t see the big yellow bus with red flashing lights. The best is when they stop for the red flashing lights but then look at you with a side glance and wave and proceed through the red flashing lights on my bus. I strongly feel at a certain age people need to be retested on the road.
Seen it!
